It's about time.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

I drove one when I was going to buy one. Seemed pretty buttoned down to me. Sluggish off the line but a beastly top end. It wasn't a major corner carver but then again, no 4000-4500 pound car is. If you are expecting it to be then, well, you're not beaing realistic. It was a comfy ride too!
I would have bought one but they delayed release and then I found out I could get my X-Plan discount on a Lightning. I made the obvious choice. The Lightning is insane on all levels. Especially when you consider that it's a pickup truck that still does pickup truck things and can embarrass most cars on the road. The Marauder was a land yacht that was still head and shoulders above the rest of what was available in it's class at the time and a good chunk of what was available in the mid-sized class too. The last ride to be anything like it before it came alone was the Impala SS.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I'd prefer to just buy a P71 ex-cop car for $3k if i wanted a Crown Vic on steroids. Handles about the same, has the same oomph (or lack thereof), and is way cheaper.
Yeah, the interior might not be as good, and it might not have the bling blang rims, but gotta think, that's a HELL of a markup.
I'm not really bagging on the Marauder as much as it seems. I think they're neat, cool looking, but were horribly overpriced, and appeal to me about as much as a P71. Which is... not at all.
That said.... Marauder + supercharger = winI don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Mercury is a real good car, thats what I was driving when I picked up my neighbors wife. took some real strong nylon cord............

Many of these disappearing brands have a wonderful history, although not so much so, in the case of Mercury:In 1935, Edsel Ford designed a more luxurious version of the Ford that he intended to call the Falcon. Since he didn't think it fit in with other Fords, he created a new brand named for the Roman god.
The 1939 Mercury 8 began production in 1938, with a 95-horsepower V8 engine. Over 65,800 sold the first year, at a price of $916.
From the very beginning, Mercury was a division that seemed to have a brand identity that was constantly in the process of finding its place in the North American automotive market. ...
Here's a link to the wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_(automobile). Was this Ford's failed attempt at a Toyota/Lexus Honda/Acura strategy?!
In any case, the steam engine has a wonderful history too, but like Mercury they're not very useful today.Alea jacta est! -
There wasn't enough to differentiate them between ford and lincoln IMO....different superficial stuff isn't enough to survive in this day and age...

Well... ford/watered-down Lincoln.
I could see the relevance of Lincoln, they are TRULY a big step up in luxury from Ford.
Mercury... not enough. But if it WAS enough, then Lincoln would have been redundant.

From that year, the Cougar was based on the Mustang but the chassis was lengthened. Not really "fancy Mustang" since the dynamics of the car changed. Those Cougars had the engine sitting fairly far back it was almost mid-engined.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
