We need a bit more information here.

    How big is the room?

Do you already have any gear that you'd like to use with the new system?

What type of speakers do you want? A smaller sub/sat setup...bookshelf speakers...floorstanders?

Is this only for home theater, or will you be listening to music on it too?

If you are listening to music on it, will the music listening be in 2 channel or in surround sound?

Would you like to use external amplification, or just use an AVR?

Would you prefer buying new, or is used alright?

Does this budget include purchase of the source component(s) like a DVD/Blu-ray palyer, or you may already have a PS3/XBox. I will assume it will include an AV receiver... and that you already have the display.

Without shopping around much you get a set of RTi As (A9, A6, FxiA6) for $2400, then find a $600 sub that suits your needs. If you think you'd prefer 2 subs you could go for the A7 fronts and get 2 $600 subs , lots to chose from there. This sub thread is invaluable:

I've got the A6 center and have listened to the A7 & 9 towers and really like the sound, especially vocals & strings.

If you don't like the A6 surounds, I'd look at the RTi A3s.

    PS Nice AVR!
