does anyone know if this is true better sound out of coaxial or optical?

go to monoprice and buy 1 of each. they only cost a few bucks.

I like my optical cable personally.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I am currently looking at both blue jean cables and monoprice.
Here is another question now. I was talking with a co-worker today about this very same topic. He has a "stereo guy" installing all of his new gear in a house he just bought. Apparently he has some distance between his receiver and other rooms where components will be is my understanding. Say about 50' or so. This guy told him that over that length hdmi just wouldn't be good, so he is wiring everything in 'cat-5' cable. Is this accurate?

Also what are the monoprice or bluejeans cables that are THE ones to get?
Fact is HDMI over 25' can be a problem however, a simple HDMI repeater can also be bought from mono price. I personnally bought a 50' (I think more like 47' as it is listed in meters) in-wall grade HDMI along with a repeater and it always worked flawlessly for me. However, without the repeater there is potential problems if you do not add a repeater (same as VGA cables).

Personally, I am not too keen about video signal over cat5 (worse HD) since I feel this technology isn't to par yet. From our experienc using cat5 with our PJs we found out that the typical IT cat5 cable is somewhat un-reliable and that if better cable (IE: like the cable used for XLRs) were used that could solve the problem.
    Cheers!
