If Hyundai's marketing is wrong, I have no idea how they have more black ink in their accounting books globally than most auto manufacturers right now. And you give yourself too much credit by saying you hurt my feelings; you are just an argumentative internet know-it-all; why would I get hurt? You drive whatever you have and call it whatever you want, and I will do the same.

Anyways, back to the OP (lol, sorry about that).

Marketing has nothing to do with engineering, genius. Marketing calls a fish a cow all the time and gets away with it because small-minded individuals such as yourself suck it up like candy.

You don't know when to give up, do you? I hope you are a kid and not an adult, because if you are, well, I feel for you. I'm ignoring your troll attempts. Let's get back to the OP.

I just have a thing against wikepedia, not John. He uses wikepedia alot in his posts, but hey, thats just me. I find that common sense trumps wikepedia most times. Anyway, here in the states, maybe different across the pond, 2 door is normally a coupe, 4 door a sedan. Speaking in general of coarse as there may be exceptions.

I use Wikipedia because it's readily available, easy to search and 99% of the stuff I post is cited and verified. Trust me, I make sure my sources are legit so I don't have to deal with the constant badgering of being wrong.

But I'm apparently a "know-it-all" because I know how to search the Internet to verify my statements before I make them. I post links so that it shows that I'm not "omnipotent" and that I don't know everything but at least I know where to find the info. Unlike some people who seem to just speak out of their hind end and proclaim it to be fact.

As far as telling people they are wrong, I enjoy it! It's my favorite past time to crush the hopes and urinate on the dreams of those who feel compelled to ridicule me for striving to be accurate in the things I say.

Troll attempts? No, I'm not trying to get a rise out of you. You're doing that all by yourself. You're the one who has no argument beyond "That's how it is 'cause I say so!" and have resorted to attempting to insult me and discredit me through accusatory statements and...well...for lack of a better way to say it, name calling.

    But I'm the kid, right?

You're still wrong, by the way.

Let us know what he offers you. Keep an eye out, I wouldn't go for the Cavalier. Times are tough and a lot of people are getting rid of their vehicles for cheap; at least that's the way it is by me right now.

Again, I know what I write here about. Unlike you I don't open my mouth and speak about something I have no clue about. I post links as reference to verify my statements for those, like you, who cannot fathom that someone out there might actually know what they are talking about. If anything it's sad commentary on the state of affairs that even with my background, I still have to post some level of verification for anything to be taken seriously. I can't win. If I speak with any authority on anything, I get questioned and demanded to furnish proof of my statements. I beat you to the punch and furnish proof before you can even think to ask for it and now I'm a "know-it-all whose education system has failed him". Nice.

I'm not a "know-it-all". there are plenty of topics discussed here regularly that I don't know one iota about so I don't participate in those discussions. There are still others that I do know something about but decline to participate in as well due to persons such as yourself. I can't seem to catch a break. But, here's an idea! How about if you monkeys don't want me correcting every lame brained thing you come up with, why not verify what you are going to post BEFORE you post it. I didn't have a problem with you until you started taking things personally. Now you make them personal and look for the adulation and approval your peers at my expense.

Again, that brings us back to your attacks on me personally with no argument beyond the equivalent of calling me a doo doo head. But my silly, tongue-in-cheek, self-depracating signature is what you choose to harp on as if it were some way to mock me. But you and the mouthy college kid think I'm a "kid". Yet who's the one taking the personal shots, slinging insults and generally taking every chance they can to attempt to get under my skin?

Yeah, and I'M the "troll" and the "kid". Riiiiiight.

Well, I searched and I found a car that looked ok, but it was from a guy that I had dealed with before.
He is kind of a rip off I think.
He wanted 1750 for a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT that needed new Valve core cover gaskets and a new exhaust coupler.
I dunno, seems like a lot of work, it even has more miles than my car!
    131,000 miles.
Mine is just barely reaching 126,000

PC, you need to learn a little discipline with your wallet. Trust me, this is coming from someone who does the same crap. You get the idea of "upgrading" your ride and you're looking at a Tiburon?? And, dang, in another recent post, you almost jumped on a new set of Klipsch speakers you got your ears on, even though you haven't had your Polks too long. Take it from me - enjoy what you have, and save your money for some really meaningful purchases - like a house? Yes, you should start saving for that NOW! I'm older, and hindsight is 20/20. My only wish is that I could heed my own advice... You've got a chance to get ahead in this life and the way to do it is by SAVING!

Yeah, that is why I don't usually buy things on the spot. I sit on them I usually wait a week, and if I still want it and its still there and I safely have the money I buy it.
I do know this, that is why I don't spend m money that often, but when I do I try to make it worth while.
I want a little more money so I could get a good car, the one I bought was just a "junker" car, but it has served me extremly well, unfortunatly it has some rust issues that I am trying to kurb, I got one mechanic to ignore it...but it has gotten worse. Hopefully it will pass another year if not...I am going to have to sell it. I mean, it's not like you couldn't fix it but I simply do not have the time or the money to do so, and if a co-worker wants to buy it knowing what is wrong with it and he does, and he gives me a good enough deal, I may jump on a used dealership car, and stick out the payments...I have good enough credit to get a decent deal for a loan, but I just don;t like not owning stuff.
The reason I didn't jump on the klipsh speakers s because they are not me. I mean the monitor 50s, those are my style, they are small and very sharp looking, you don't expect much out of them, but when you turn them on they really turn faces, I don't expect to get rid of these any time soon.
The car issue is something I have been thinking about for awhile know. Problem is I havn;t found a car that I can actually say yes to. Not sure what makes me say no every time...
I mean I like having my safe of money. As for my house, I am waiting until college is over for my wife and I to get a good house. We have been renting an apartment from a friend, well, he actually is buying it, we are just paying his bills an living there because he has a house now, and plans to rent it out to people when we get our own house. So it works out for the both of us.
Ah, well. I do know what you are saying, my father says it to me all the time. He said it when I purchased the audio stuff, yet he is always over listening to cds he found from his "younger" days and always telling me that he never remember this sound, or this instrument and how nice my system is.

As Zitro and I have said, why get rid of it to get into a gamble? Would you throw away a $10,000 lottery ticket for a slim to none chance at getting an $11,000 lottery ticket?

I've been down that road before, as most have. Unless you can find something with a much lower mileage than what you have, I don't see a point in trading for another vehicle. Tally up what you have spent on that car, from purchasing it to all the repairs and any mods you have done to it. That should be a good indicator as to what you will put into a new car. That doesn't include time and frustration that you might get if it routinely breaks down.

As much as I love my '98 camaro, part of me wishes I still had my '94 ranger because it would've saved me thousands of dollars. Hold off until you can afford something you really want.

Desire outweighs sensibility though, thats why I have my beater of a camaro ;). GL with whatever you do

I didn't see any mazdas that lowered more than 4-10,000
You get what you pay for! The main reason you don't see them lower than that is simply because they are worht the money and serve you for a long time (like Honda and Toyota). If I'm correct, the Hondas seem to be the best rated with Toyata in second place (not sure if they still are since their latest car problems). Personnaly I prefer Mazda because they are not over rated like Honda and Toyota as Mazda is a little shy on the reviews and this cause Mazda to be priced a little friendlier. Jstas is right that Mazda parts might be more available with friendlier pricing due to the Ford Mazda team work.

Like pointede out, you should drive your present car until it has barely any life left or until repairs aren't worht while anymore. If you decide to replace your car, you should look for cars that aren't much older than 5 years and have low mileage. Make sure you read reviews on them, consult your car association (if you are a member. Get the car inspected before you buy as that will save you some headhache and will help you get the BBB.

    Cheers!

Well, I want a sporty looking car, I do not however want a coupe. My budget is a loan that would be around 5000. That is really all I want to get myself into at the moment.
As for the 5 year comment, about how many miles I should I look for in anything 5 years or younger....like 60,000?
Yes, I found that out, I didn't get my car inspected before I bought, it caused A L O T of headache. I learned now, though

I wouldn't take out a loan for a $5000 car. Either drive your car until you save $5000 to pay cash, or lower your budget.

I can't think of anything that would be 5 years old or newer for $5000 that i would want to drive, personally.

Let me get this straight... You want a car that is 5 years old or newer, with under 60,000 miles and you want it to be a sporty car?

AND it has to be 5k or less?

Good luck on that one. Even a Kia or Hyundai entry level car is going to set you back more than that.

No, I was asking if the 5 year car....that was recommended should have less than 60,000?
I know mine is 15 and has 126k...So that is why I was asking...I mean, any wheres in the range of 4-6k for a loan would be great. I am figuring in that money that guy would give me and the money I have saved up for a new car already...so I would have around 8 or 9k loans, plus saved money...would that be enough to get me a decent one?
I just want a sporty looking car, it doesn't have to have a 5.0 turbo charge with air intake and all that fancy stuff.

As for the car, I want it sporty looking, that doesn't mean I want a sporty car though. I am not out tp race the thing.

Ah ok... i may have misunderstood.

As for mileage, i drive 30k+ miles a year. So if i only had one car, i would have no problems getting that sucker deep past the 100k mark in 5 years.

It's really all about the maintainence. The only reason (personally, of course) that i would ever give a damn about mileage in itself is for warranty purposes. Which, in most cases, on a 5 year old used car, is going to be laughable anyways, so screw all of that.

I would bet good money that my 18 year old car with 250k+ miles on it is in better mechanical condition than your average 3 year old Cobalt with 50k miles on it. (Just an example, i don't care what anyone's experience with Cobalts are, keep your panties unbunched)

As for your car... Sporty looking cars for $4-$6k that AREN'T coupes. Ermmm... BMW 3-series? (With proof that the suspension bushings and cooling system has been overhauled recently) Maybe an older Nissan Maxima? Slim pickings in that category.

If you're open to slightly older cars, there's a whole host of mid-late 90s coupes/hatchbacks that would fit the bill and be great cars in pretty much every respect.
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I do check them, I have been to a few PD auctions as well, but have always been outbid.
I went a few months ago for a Dodge Charger V8, it had the interceptor chip and all that good stuff....it went for 8k....I didn't have that much at the time, only about 6k.
    I was a little sad.
