Denon RC 8000 Remote

I still cannot get this to bring up the on screen menu. I talked to former owner and he gave the same explanation in the manual.

He used an S cable from the Monitor Out and I am doing same. I used a couple different inputs on the TV and I cannot get the on screen set up menu. The remote will control the AVR's functions....except for this....I would like to doubt that it is the remote's programming...

it has to be user err....anyone use one of these or a similar Denon remote?

It was working until I moved it into a new system....TV, speakers, DVD.....

    thought I would pass this by one last time.....I suppose it is possible that the on screen output for set up is just shot....

    You've tried s-video, but what about the Standard. And depending on what model you have it might work with COMP or HDMI Let me know what model receiver it is and i can find out

    It is a Denon 5800.

    No HDMI. I have tried the component and composite.

    I also have a Denon RC-883 which controls most functions....but also will not bring up on screen menu.

    Thanks for any help....(I am not sure what you mean by Standard)

    Neil,

    Are you sure you have the video cable hooked up to the correct output on the reciever? I couldn't get the remote (I have the exact same remote) to bring up the menu, and found I had the vide cable hooked into the wrong output jack from the reciever. Check that and let us know.
