here comes the revew. first off let me tell you this thing is heavy. it is the heavyist thing in my rack. it weighs in at 48 lbs and 56 in box. just to let you know i used all scrap rca to hook it up sence my sigonal cabbles wont get shiped till tuesday. lets start off by saying this amp is powerfull it is rated at 125 per channel rms all channels driven with between .012% and .020% thd from 20hz - 20khz. the power cord is very beafy. the looks are very nice it puts most of my other equipment to shame.the layout of the back is very well spaced and easy to reed with very big letters. the amp is very robust it drives my speakers with ease. i felt with the onkyo after i got to about 90-95db the speakers would strain. but now they sound good. the trebble is a little brighter but there is still plenty of mids and low. the amp looks like is will disapear into the rack it looks so nice. also the power button looks very sweet it has a led and the button is back lit.

Great choice in amp, Bryan. Adcom has been making clean, high current, beefy amps for years - it's their claim to fame. Excellent addition to the rack.

Ganzo,Good looking Amp. I have been contemplating on this Amp. or the Outlaw 7100.I'm having a tough time making THE decision, looks like both companies offer a very good pre-amp for the money also...just curious, did you buy your Adcom on-line or did you buy from a local Dealer?

i went to a local dealer but olny got 10%off list of 1500. 1350 i paied +tax vs 1250 for online +shiping . i was thinking of outlaw but i just dont like the styling and adcom has ben makeing amps for so much longer. also if i have a problem i just take it to where i got it and i get it fixed ant it comes with a 5 year warentee.

on pre amp i have read threads that the outlaw pre has some drawbacks. bt the addcom dusent do dd-ex or dts es but it has a 7.1

i am looking at the rotel 1066 pre it has both formats and is 1200 street. rotel dont make any 7 channel amps.

You may want to get Jerry's impression of my Outlaw 7100, we spent a long time listening to both. I really like the Outlaw, but then again I bought it so I should like it! Drop him a him PM and see what he thinks.

    Mike,

Frank's Outlaw is right on equal par with the Adcom's performance. Both are very robust and provide plenty of on tap power without showing the least bit of strain under heavy loads. I would think the only issue's here is which one you could get at a better price and how you want your customer service local or Internet. If you put the 2 amps side-by-side you probably could not make out any obvious differences. If the money’s ready just go for it.

Thanks guys,I've read the reviews on both units,I'm leaning toward the Outlaw...being able to purchase direct from Outlaw is a plus for me...I live in a rural area and the nearest Adcom Dealer is about 100 miles away..Adcom,like many companies, has a disclaimer about Warrenty issuses when purchased from any other source, other than an Adcom dealer...Sooo,the Outlaw is a little less money and can be delivered to my door....I know that either amp. would be a great addition to my HT setup,it's just a matter of coming up with the extra cash...

    ganzo,

that's a real beauty of an amp. looks great in your rack too. it's a 5 channel right? I agree Adcom amps are conservatively rated for their specs.

That's a very heavy amp. What would shipping have costs you had you odered it online? i'm just curious.

    thanks, Al

yes they are a clip and thd warning lights. when i get my new interconects i will take a pic of the back and you will see that it is just a few and the speaker wire. witch goes strait back to the wall plate. the amp is straring to open up. the more i listen to it the better it sounds. i wonder how long the break in is on amps. plus if you let them warm up the have more power. i wonder if they test for power with the amp warm or cold? all i have to say is i will keep this amp till it is dead and that will be a long long time.

oh Dan, you would never want to see my wires/cables.. they are everywhere. i try and organize them.. but they fight me all the way.. ha ha.

My problem is my rack isn't a rack at all. it's a wall unit without a back to it.. it's an open back.. so you see EVERYTHING. I do want a decent audio rack for everything. but the ones I like are all to small depth wise. The Marantz mono blocks are about 17 to 18" deep. Most audio cabinets i've seen only go 14 to 16" deep. so i'll keep looking.

Here's a little trick for ya. Get some black fabric from your local Wal-mart, crafts store, or fabric store, and use some thumb tacks to pin it to the back of the wall unit. It really works great and keeps your eyes on the tv or the components instead of the wall (and wires!) behind the gear. Very cheap, and yet very effective!
