Break in!!!!

Well I know that I haven't been on here all the much lately things have been crazy for me as of late.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about what happened to me over the weekend. I decided that I had time to go camping and wanted to take advantage of the nice weather and a little break from work.

When I got home this morning to my suprise where my tv and all my goodies used to be was empty space:mad::mad: Yep you guessed it someone decided to break in while I was gone this weekend and take all my stuff.

So If by some miracle someone from the club spots some items for sale that are somewhat close to me in north iowa and I don't catch it I would like a heads up. I myself along with the sherrifs dept are going to be watching ebay and craigs list to see if anything pops up but extra eyes are always handy.

The list of things taken are as follows

2 LSI 25 cherry
2 LSI 9 cherry
1 LSIC black
2 RTI 6 black
Parasound A23 (sorry curt)
Parasound HCA 500
Rotel RSP-1068 (silver)
APC H-15
Samsung 46' lcd tv
Yamaha reciever HTR 5790
Pioneer blu ray player BD51FP
and about 75 blu ray movies various titles I know that Im never going to get them back.

Oh and they took all my cables too!

And I know the question some are going to ask is did I have insurance? Yes I did and I get to find out tomorrow how good it really is cause I know what everything is worth and what i paid for it and Im sure they are going to have a different opinion then me.

So I would appricate any help I can get from my fellow polkies.

Mark

    I'm sorry to hear that.

That really sucks to have your personal space invaded and your stuff taken.

I hope you can get your possessions back. I suppose the good thing was that you weren't there - who knows what might have happened.

Wow what a bummer. Each time I leave my home for a period of time I get a sinking feeling in my gut when I go to check around the house.

Good luck and I hope you have some pics and serial numbers this way the insurance co can't dispute anything.

PS: I hate to say it but I think Tony is right . . . an inside job!

well as far as the neighbors I live in the country so neighbors are at least a half mile away so it would be easy to not be noticed. I do have all the S/N and pics of everything and have had quite a few conversations with my ins agent about what I have and the best way to protect it if something were to happen.

I'm not sure about the inside job but don't worry i am asking myself who would have the balls to do something like this and the list is getting smaller I do have a few people in mind.

I have a lot of contacts so the word is out about it and IF someone is stupid enough to say something I have quite a few sources so they WILL be found out.

Thanks everyone for the kind words sad thing is that the sheriff said this happens all the time and they do not have a very good success rate unless they raid a house and happen to find something there.

Keep checking ebay, agon and craigslist. A guy here quite some time ago found his amp listed somewhere and I believe got it back. Also, we have tracked several banned persons all over the net just to keep an eye on them and make sure they were exposed wherever they went. Its a small world and we all need a hobby. :)

Wow Mark...I'm really sorry to hear about that. That's terrible.

People that would do something like that deserve to be shot...hopefully they'll get caught up. Unfortunately, in cases like this the people are rarely caught. Good luck though...hopefully something will come of it.

I was really looking forward to getting my hands on that A23 too...:( But, I can't really be upset about that after what happened to you.

Wow, sorry to hear about this. First, I would suggest an alarm system at the least and a DVR with surveillance camera system in the future. I was talking to another Polkie last night about security systems, and IMO they are a good deterrent. If you have any questions or need help with installation feel free to contact me. I installed my own DIY alarm system and surveillance camera setup and it wasn't that difficult.

Sorry to hear about this. I wish you luck perhaps if the insurance pays replacement value you may be able to get nicer gear.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

also think about the times you play it loud. i notice the same cars passing by about the same time im jamming on a daily basis. could easily be someone that gets off work and passes by your house at about the same time you are playing your tunes.

Well I couldn't take not having a TV so I already gave in and went and bought a new one. I ended up with another samsung I really liked the one I had and really had no complaints.

So off to best buy I went and found a deal on a 46" LED like it so far but have only had it up and going for about an hour now so I guess time will tell the pic is better tho IMO didn't go with the top of the line as budget dosen't allow for that but not the bottom either.

So hopefully by the end of the next couple weeks I will be back on my way to H/T heaven.

We had a break in once a long time ago, they attempted burn the house down. We found burnt napkins all over the place.
I do hope in your favor, the insurance company will have to give in since you have documented proof.
You would have to think so. Would be nice if you go the insurance money and your stuff back.
