Just Bought an ISONIC and Need Help

Hi, I just bought a used, I think, first generation ISONIC at a yard sale. (how can I find out exactly which generation it is?) Plugged it in and it works. However, on strong FM stations, at times, It'll lose the signal for a couple of seconds. I live in a city and would like to buy external FM/AM antennas to improve signal strength. What do you recommend? How can I find out if the firmware is up to date?
What else should I do to enhance the radio.
BTW, it has a great sound and I like it very much.

Thanks for the useful reply. After posting my message I discovered this link:

It's an original I Sonic. The sound is amazing to me considering it's a tabletop radio.
Periodically, the audio will drop out for a few seconds I assume that's because it's a digital receiver.
I really need to get an external FM antenna
Paid $4.00 for it at a yard sale today. -
Well, I've got to figure out where I'm going to place the radio before getting an antenna.
Actually, many years ago I had the antenna you recommend. I need to get another one.
