Interesting ... it does seem to sum up most of the concerns that frustrate people regarding this issue (and as such, it's a more useful comment IMO than the Arizona Drinking "joke") but it leaves out some important points such as whether or not the birds were legally present, and even if not so, whether or not they paid any taxes.
It's hard to understand why this never gets fixed, year after year, decade after decade, but maybe it has at least something to do with some states that are afraid of losing tax revenue paid by unauthorized birds. It's not as if it's a new problem at any rate.Alea jacta est! -
If you send all the illegals home from Arizona, all you Arizonans (and visitors) will be paying about $300.00 for dinner at a decent restaurant for two as opposed to about $100.00 now. That is why nothing has been done about this.
Until we stop hiring these people to wash dishes, bus tables, cook, clean, wipe baby asses, etc., they will not go away.
I travel for business all the time and see them wherever I go. They are everywhere, not just Arizona and California.
I would pay more to fix this, but most won't."The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it." Neil deGrasse Tyson. -

Not to try and stir the pot but just to state some observations... being from a very small conservative town in Wisconsin originally, moving to the Denver area was a big change for me in this subject. With that being said I took a job with family dollar when I moved out here (embarrassing i know) and in the 9 months I worked in the store (located in a crappy suburb outside denver ... commerce city for those of you from around here) the store was ALWAYS in the black. Our sales hadn't ever been stronger and a few of our employees who are here from Mexico legally said that they figured about 80% of our hispanic customers weren't here legally. This was rather surprising at such a high rate being spoken from people who would know this based on living in the community and knowing a lot of the customers. However, a few weeks back, the INS had a bunch of very large raids at 3 different stores in the area for their workers. Two of these raids were local grocery stores down the street in which 80% of their workers were removed and the other being a checker auto where about half of their employees were taken away including their store manager. The two weeks following these raids were the only 2 weeks in the 9 months where we didn't reach our sales goals or comp over last year. I suppose I don't really know what to make of it all other than knowing who drove the sales in our area until they were most likely too afraid to leave the house with the things going on in the community.
Any other thoughts on this? If any of you actually read that long-winded post. -

If this illegal alien problem was actually fixed, these examples above are one of hurdles that America will face. No biggy though, America has always overcome its internal struggles. It took a long time for us to get into this predicament and it will take a long time and some good planning to adjust to get all facets of this issue resolved.
