Advice on In Ceiling Surrounds
Old guy here. Here's what I have:
RT2000i fronts
CS400i center
PSW450i sub
Onkyo TS-DS777 receiver
I used to have some Polk bookshelves on stands in the rear (do not recall the models), but the wire routing did not work in the new house. I'm moving again and do not want to be without the rears for the next few years! Floorboard wiring+stands+bookshelves will also not work in the new place, so I'm very strongly leaning toward an in-ceiling installation for the rear speakers.
Given that my current speakers are 8-10 years old (but still sound great), they are recommended to be matched with the f/x500i which are not in-ceiling and impossible to find anyway.
So which would be the best pair to match with the rest of my setup? My options appear to be:
RC60i
TC610i
TC620i
LC80
I would prob rule out the LC80s on price alone. Any recommendations for the best match?
Thanks!

You're in luck! The correct match for your series of speaker (the RT, or Reference Theater series) is NOT the LCi ceiling speakers. Those are for the LSi series.
The TCi series is what you need. If you read here, you'll notice that the TCi series is designed for the RTi range, which is simply the "improved" RT range that you own (and plenty of people prefer the earlier RT models to the later RTi and RTi A models):

If you can, I would certainly prefer the TC80i, rather than the TC60i, from the specifications alone (and from experience using bigger RT surround speakers vs. smaller ones), but for surround duty, the TC60i is still a very reasonable compromise.

A hearty welcome to C.P. BTW. There are a lot of crazy members, and even some trolls from time to time, but on the whole, it's a friendly place!Alea jacta est! -

Hurhur... did you say crazy or cranky. Sorry, not trying to be a troll. Apologies also if this is unwelcome in addition to unsolicited advice, but in my surround setup I originally had small speakers on stands behind the seating area. My wife requested they be moved up to ceiling level, so I got some OWM 3's and put them on the OmniMount 10.0 ceiling mounts.
I think the OWM 3's are a very good surround speaker, but even with the OmniMount, which is pretty adjustable it's been a challenge to get them aimed correctly. IMO, it's just a lot easier to get a good surround effect out of speakers at the Dolby recommended height of just a little above ear level. If you have WAF issues like I do and have to go with in-ceiling I'd definitely recommend rigging up some kind of temporary harness so you can get them positioned and aimed correctly before you cut any drywall. Good luck! -
Kex - thank you so much for the info. I totally missed the "Series Overview" page.
I really appreciate the info and look forward to learning from everyone here!
