Just thought I would post some pics. It sucked being at work today tracking it and reading it was left on the porch at about 11:30am and I didn't get home till 4:00pm. I will more then likely make me a black face plate at work for this unit. now it's all about what caps I want to put in it and roll some tubes... I don't want to compare it to the Dodd just yet till I get to roll some tubes in it. The Dodd to me is like a good sweet tooth but it has the sonicaps in it and a set of tubes I really like as well.

Looking good. Those cheap caps gota go!
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Do you just replace the 4 Daytons? I don't recall what brand that other cap is and I already put the top back on.

I forgot to mention I hate the color of the board.. LOL

Yes, just the 4 daytons is what it takes. I have read of others doing all 5 though, but also read it's not necessary. Although I do not own this pre-amp I did a lot of research on it and came very close to buying one. Let us know how it sounds, before and after new caps and tubes. Congratulations on the new pre-amp!

IIRC the "auricap" upgrade call for the replacement of the 4 caps @ 2,2 Uf,,I replaced all of mine,,why? cause they were there.Have fun and enjoy,,it's really a great unit.

Looks good Larry, but Ben probably knows best. I don't understand schematics much. All I can tell by looking in there is that it seems like a 'simple' straight forward design...which I understand as a 'good thing'. I think I'm going to learn how to read circuits when I get back to the U.S. or perhaps I should have one of my Chinese Ph.D. students in SS circuitry explain this to me 'here' because I'm getting tired of not knowing and frankly, I can learn almost anything very quickly.

What are you going to use the Belles for?

Auricaps sound really really nice in tube gear. All 3 of my Dared pieces have Auricaps from the factory. If they would have had the correct values I would have used Auricaps in the Adcom DAC mod. instead of MultiCaps

Looks like I will be spending about $150 ;) depending on what George wants to do as I might be interested.

Sonic craft seems to be the only place with the right values.

Do a Google search as I found some other outlets for different value Auricaps.

Michael Percy Audio and Parts Connexion come to mind.

Make sure to put some hours on them before making ANY judgments on them.

They should be. Too bad I don't have any gear that I could easily make a direct comparison in for you.
