Can't pass this up so I am ordering one tomorrow if Best Buy does not have any instock. For only $899, plus a 5 year warrently, plus a 30 day trial period, it's a no-brainer. Heck, I can sell my Mits 46" and break even if not be ahead a little.

I've read some reviews and it seems to be a great projector for an excellent price.

InFocus X1

Remember, you get what you pay for. And you're only getting 800X600 resolution on this baby. To get a native hi-def signal, you need 1280X720 res. So anytime you run a widescreen movie you'll get bars just like you do on a 4x3 screen. Also, I'm not sure how the project supports HDTV when it doesn't have component inputs. I'd take a serious look at LCD's that support native hi-def before plunking a 1000 for this guy.

using a bussiness projector for home theater is ok,it's a good way to get a more movie feel without spending the big bucks. For what they are selling if for, what the hell.My advice is get a good screen now and savefor down the road better projector.

Ron consider throw distance before you buy.Check it's spec's.
It's the first dlp bussiness projector I have seen.Stewart canhelp you with the purchase of a film screen.Fixed is the way to go if you don't want to drop over 5 grand into a screen.

In the rron you have,I'm not seeing a bigger screen then a 84.That even might be to big.

    Ron,
I think the driftwood deserves better. I saw this same ad for Best Buy and considered it (briefly!) before I compared it to alot of the other entry level units out there. I think you might want to keep looking. The resolution is pretty low for an HT projector. Screendoor effect is said to be quite noticeable also!

Guys, this is an entry level FP and as entry level as you can get. Cannot expect much for 1k, then again from all the reading I have done over at AVS and the HTF, 95% of the reviews are steller.

All I can do is a 6' screen, the projector seems to work best at 1.5 from that. Which should work out nicely for set-up.

It's so inexpensive, the reviews are above average and it comes with a 30 day risk free trial period, you cannot go wrong. I gotta give it a shot. It will be a direct trade for my Mits so I will be out no coin. If it runs for a couple years, great, I''ll upgrade to a new model at that time and that's if it looks good and is worth keeping. But, I'll never know if I don't give it a shot.

Just finished up with InFocus and the projector is shipping today, $1,076.42. Plus, I'll get $100 off via a mail in rebate, only $976.42. I have to give this thing a shot. 30 days to try it out and I'm out a few bucks to send it back if I do not like it.

Plus, when I regiseter online, they'll extend the warrently to 5 years parts and labor, free.

It's got some draw-backs, but it seems they can be overcome with tweaking and the proper light grey screen color. I'm willing to sacrifice some PQ going larger with an inexpensive front projector, how much, I'll let you know next week when it's up and running.

Also, I'm not sure how the project supports HDTV when it doesn't have component inputs.
It accepts 480p or 1080i via the VGA input, all I need to do is buy the breakout cable (about $50).
