Hey all, looking for a set of jumpers to replace the stock brass plates on my LSi7's. If you have an extra set, can make one or know where I can buy good ones cheap, let me know!

I recently replaced my jumpers on all my LSI with some Monster XP I had with great success. The improvement was immediately apparent (at the time I was running all the LSIs with the Yamaha AVR--bi-amping the LSI15s). I plan to uprgrade the jumpers on the LSI15s to match the PNF Symphony cables I have running to them, but any modest cable should give you a nive improvement over the jumpers. I noticed a quiter and clearer high end right away. After listening for a few hours I felt the mids and highs were less harsh (I always felt the Yamaha was a bit bright).

If you are connecting your speaker cables via bananna plugs, then you can simply bare the ends of the jumper wire (mine are only about4.5" long), unscrew the lugs, slip the wire end in connecting the upper + to the lower +, upper - to lower -, and tighten down the lugs. I am using spades on my speaker cables, so my jumpers haven bannana plugs on one side, and bare wire on the other.

I just use speaker wire, with bare wire on both ends, trimmed to a conveniently short size. If you really want the original jumpers, it's a current product, and I bet Customer Service have them at a very reasonable price. It's not as if you'll be paying for shipping 50lbs of amplifier or something.

sandworm- I dont like how the bannana plug stick out due to the angle of the binding posts, I used them on the bottom out of necessity. In short, personal preference, nothing is gained by bannanas other than convenience, IMO.

Have your cables ever oxidized? I have a set of cables hooked up to my LSi7's right now, bananas on the amp side, bare on the speaker side. The bare end is oxidizing on both cables, and I've only had the cable for a few months. This is why I didn't want to cut up some cable and make jumpers w/o terminations. Maybe my cables are just really cheap quality.

I run bare cable on one of my rigs and the wire does oxidize on them, but they are silver wires so i expect it.

I'm still trying to understand these Jumpers you are all making. Are these simply to replace the flat metal jumper already installed when using one pair of posts? Or are these jumpers being used for a bi-wire/amp setup? Jumpers seem to be one of the most talked about subjects lately and I want to know what i am missing.

Also why would polk make such a fine speaker and use such cheap material for the flat jumper if that indeed is what your replacement is for.

Yes, it is to replace the stock brass plate Polk has as a jumper. Brass is not very conductive and is a hindrance to the audio signal. For bi-wiring, there would be no jumper in place at all. As to why the speakers use the brass plates in the first place, I'm not entirely sure. All I do know is I have not heard one person say they replaced these brass plates with good wire and not heard an improvement.

TBH, I haven't checked recently, but this whole fascination with bananas and spades is an American thing. Plenty of rigs in Europe and elsewhere use bare wire all the time. The only reason I use bananas is because it's so much easier to swap things around when you want to experiment with something new for a few days, otherwise I'll go back to bare wire myself eventually. If I'm worried about oxydation, I might use solder to cover the ends. YMMV.

A side on oxidation-- De-oxit gold is a great treatment for all connection points which both enhances the conductiviy of the condition as well as leaving a coating to prevent oxidation.... For the $15 I treat the system from top to bottom (power cords, interconnects, internal connections, etc)

    Jeremy,
I've got 26" of PNF Symphony speaker cable that you can make your own jumpers out of. This is left over from a 6' I bought used on Audiogon to make my own jumpers. $25 shipped to your door. Ernie
