Upgrading: Need Advice
Ok, so here's the skinney fellas. Im replacing the sony str-de685 with a Pioneer Elite 45tx. The price is just to good to pass up. I am also going to purchase a sub. SVS PB1-ISD seems like a logical choice given quality and price. Would you gentlemen agree with me that my front stage should now be switched? Would not the rt55i's produce a superior harmonic range and clarity when matched to the svs sub than say my rt100i's?
Gentlemen, given that I am a novice, relatively speaking am I headed towards a personal disaster by adding a sub of this magnitute while living within a condo?
Thirdly, should the consensus of the masses here agree that the rt55i's assume the responsibilities of the front stage then the 100's would obviously serve as my rears. Would you even make use of their powered 6.5 inch subs? Would you simply leave them unplugged or simply swap them out for rti70's or the rti38's?
Godbless and thank you all for your feedback.

OK,
I think what you miss here is the fact that the rt1000i's can be tweaked to sound great a full range speaker.Running them in large and setting up the internal sub to blend perfectly(or as close as possible) will yield max results.I used to own them and found that the 9 o'clock sub level worked the best. You gotta give it a test run in your room.I also felt that the rt1000i's sounded better then the passive choices..I do however dig the rt55's.
Adding the external sub,if caliberated correctly shouldn't be a problem unless you crank it.Down fall to your living in a condo.
Nice receiver choice.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
