Ok. So this is a bit odd to me. I powered up my old Pioneer speakers. They will play with crackle at from volume 0-5 of 30 then 10-15 it doesnt crackle after 15 it will shut off my receiver.
Why does this happen?

seems like there is a short somewhere and I would not recommend to keep doing it because its not good for your AVR to keep shutting off. You might have a bad connection with speaker wire touching the other terminal ect. DO NOT KEEP DOING IT AS YOU WILL PROBABLY RUIN YOUR AVR.

+1, I have a very very old PILOT integrated (and no, it doesn't 'fly')...anyone ever hear of that? And it's pretty much got the same problem. I never bothered to fix it...it just hangs out in my basement in a pile with some other stuff?
