I don't really consider them a steak house...they have them...but it isn't their main fare IMO. I agee that if I want a steak...there are other places I think of first.

Is that the one over near Limerick or Royersford? 'Cause the Royersford one is a fairly new one and it isn't nearly as good as the others in the area. It's actually pretty bad. The one I've been to multiple times is the Reading one as well as the ones in Sicklerville, NJ and Millville, NJ.

I'm refering to the Reading one, it's the only one I've ever been to. I re-read what I wrote & I came off pretty negative. I do like almost everything else about the place, but the steak is just so-so IMHO.

My only disappointment with TR was the pulled-pork--it was not the "style" of pulled pork I was expecting.

    Did someone say pulled-pork????

Seriously though -- in my area there are two Memphis style bar-b-q places called "Red, Hot, & Blue"

and they do as fine a job of pulling pork as you'll ever find

for a chain I was impressed with Texas roadhouse. and John you are right.. at about 7:30pm-ish the crowd died down. and by 8pm you could easily find lots of seating available. dinner rush was a madhouse.

as mentioined already.. they are not known as a steakhouse and I don't think market themselves as such.. more of a bbq joint that just happens to offer steaks. my sirloin was ok.. but once cold it got tough. I had mine medium.

The other thing is that the Northwest is not known for bbq of any kind.. unlike Kansas city or Texas or Memphis or many other regions.. the NW has few good or any bbq places. so this was a bit of a treat to find.

    In the NorthWest?

    Two words: Smoked Salmon.

It's more than an adequate replacement. Add to that most other shellfish like oysters, clams, mussels and scallops as well as crabs of all kind and lobster. The seafood choices there are as numerous as they are in the NorthEast.

I've had smoked salmon, while its really good, I could deal without. Ribs, sausage, brisket...i could not :(

We have plenty of seafood here as well. Shrimp is one of my all time favorites...another thing I probably couldnt live without.

We had a place in corpus called boat n net when i was in high school. AWESOME seafood, CHEAP prices. Unfortunately, they closed down sometime when I was in college...i miss that place. Their drive through was awesome. Hit a doorbell, tell your order through a PVC pipe...classic.

I like Texas Road House. They use USDA Choice instead of Prime but I can live with it since the atmosphere is friendly and the customer service has always been fantastic and I like munching on the buckets of peanuts in the barrows while I wait for a table. I agree with others. Either show up early or come in around 8pm in my neck of the woods if you don't want to wait forever.

Too bad they don't open for lunch. We had a team lunch and ended up at Saltgrass instead.

That is suprising...all of ours are open for lunch. In fact lunch is when I usually eat there.

Texas Roadhouse is good, but I ate at a Saltgrass once and thought it was considerably better......

For Prime Rib, a massive chunk of cow plunked on a plate from Claim Jumper is enough to lure me in there every damn time I'm around one of those places.......GREAT food and I don't think I've ever had something there I didn't like........

We don't have a Saltgrass or Claim Jumper anywhere around here...nor have I been to one in my travels.
