had dinner at a new restaurant near where I live. Man this place was busy. THey don't take reservations. But you can call when they open at 4pm and let them know you are coming and how many in your party, and they will try to get you a table.

Got on the list at 4pm. Showed up for dinner at 5:50pm and was seated at approx 6:45pm.. so about an hour wait with an ahead call in. ;)

Food was incredible.. best ribs hands down. fall off the bone sticky sweet pork ribs. Cooked for three days... bone came off just by pulling it apart from the meat. :D

Side dishes were good too.. bbq baked beans, loaded sweet potato, big side salad. Only thing that was missing from the menu was coleslaw. Coleslaw goes very well with bbq meats. Big tall beers..

and the bread.. ahhhh the bread with cinminnononnnon butter. :p

don't pass it up if you see one on your way to anywhere.. i highly recommend

Hmmmmmmmm...............we have one of those here, for about a year now. It's a chain and I thought the food was a little above mediocre. Of course I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants, most are good but not great.

I wonder if it's the same chain.

We have a Famous Dave's, and they do ribs a thousand times better than *our* Texas Roadhouse.

Yes, there sauces have gone national but I used to eat at the first Famous Dave's in Hayward Wisconsin (when on vacation) when I was a kid before they became a chain . Pretty damn good chain food!

Im not a big salad guy, but the wife got one before and the chicken critter salad is awesome. Lots of meat, eggs, pretty much anything good you can put on a salad. Their rolls and butter is amazing, and at least at the one here, all the waitresses are hot too!

It's a great franchise. I financed 20 of them for a customer of mine, so I've had the opportunity to eat there often. He has sold all but one of his. They were always busy. My favorite is the country fried steak. Heart attack on a plate...but worth every bite!

Texas Roadhouse Worker Stuffs Steak with own Pubic Hair

    56893216790.jpg

    By Katie DeLong
WEST BEND – The West Bend man who found hair in his steak is preparing to file a lawsuit against Texas Roadhouse restaurant. His lawyer says the man hasn’t been able to eat since the incident.

A restaurant cook is out of a job and facing a felony charge after being accused of hiding hairs in a ribeye because a customer complained the first steak served to him was overcooked. Kevin Hansen, who dined at the steakhouse with friends and family Saturday, said he ordered a 16-ounce ribeye cooked medium rare, with a warm, red center, according to the criminal complaint filed against cook Ryan Kropp.

When restaurant service manager Michael Liberatore stopped by the table, Hansen told him the steak was cooked medium, not medium rare. Hansen declined an offer of a new steak, but Liberatore persisted and offered a new steak he could take home, the complaint said. Liberatore then took what was left of the first steak and showed it to Kropp and the other cook on duty "so that they could both learn what a medium rare steak was supposed to look like," the complaint said. Hansen went to police Sunday to complain of hair in the second steak.

A police officer observed "several strands of what appeared to be hair coming out of the middle of the steak," the complaint said. Kropp, 24, of West Bend, was charged Wednesday with a felony of placing foreign objects in edibles, carrying up to 3 1/2 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He was released on a signature bond. Kropp admitted to police he put a few of his facial hairs on the steak, saying he was angry the customer sent the other steak back and thought he was "just trying to get free stuff," according to the complaint.

According to the complaint, a second kitchen worker told police Kropp put a slit in the steak and pushed something inside, then stated, "These are my pubes," referring to pubic hair.

Travis Doster, a spokesman for the Texas Roadhouse chain of 288 restaurants in 44 states, said Thursday night that Kropp and the other worker were both terminated. "Food safety is our number one priority and we will not allow anyone to compromise that," Doster said. "As a company, we're not only shocked, we're angry that someone would pull such a reckless stunt as putting facial hair in a steak." He said the West Bend restaurant has an excellent inspection record. "I just feel for the staff because they really work hard, and one silly stupid stunt impacts everybody," he said.

Kropp has a hearing scheduled March 26 in Washington County Circuit Court. There was no answer when The Associated Press called a phone listing for Kropp Thursday night seeking comment. A message for his lawyer, public defender Erin Joy Larsen, was not immediately returned.

We have a couple of Famous Daves here as well and they are OK...but not great IMO. There are a couple of local places that blow them out of the water.

We have an interesting mix of BBQ choices here in East TN. We seem to be right in the middle of several "styles"...Carolina, Memphis, KC, TX, etc...wet/dry...Mustard/vinegar...sweet/tart...and so forth. Lots of choices...which is a good thing.

Shack, I agree, since they have gone from a more regional establishment to full blown corporate they lost a lot in translation, but outside of Chicago and a few suburbs Rockford doesn't have but one or two really good local rib joints and these are basically small hole in the wall type places with carry-out only. So Famous Dave's satisfies, but it's not the best I've ever had. Where you're at you get spoiled because of all the great variety of BBQ styles.

It's good for the price, but for a couple bucks more I prefer Saltgrass.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of any of the big chains, with the exception of a few higher end chains like Ruth's Chris and Del Frisco, and even those aren't my favorites.

FYI, anyone in the DFW area should try H3 Ranch over in Ft Worth, it's a couple buck more than Saltgrass, but still not expensive, and it's the best steak I've had outside of a high end place.

I got spoiled on BBQ growing up as we had some great local spots that to this day are sought out by people returning to the central IA area. I've always found Texas Roadhouse to be OK, good but not spectacular. If a Famous Dave's was nearby I would chose that over it. It's always a crap-shoot eating at any restuarant. I like the cook your own spots we have back home. Except for the sides which are pre-prepared, you chose your choice of heart failure and then head for the big charcoal grill. No one to blame if it ain't cooked right!

Texas Roadhouse is easily the best chain steakhouse in the area. There are much better steakhouses like The Pub or Prospector's but they aren't chains. But if I had to choose among all the chains including the high end ones, I'd pick Texas Roadhouse over all of them.

That and I don't view a chain of restaurants as "high end". Just because you have fancy menus, decorations and wait staff doesn't mean you are a 4 or 5 star restaurant. A chain is a chain and you can't duplicate what a head chef can and will do in his/her own restaurant in a chain staffed by those of lesser education/experience. Just my opinion.

Texas Roadhouse though? I go on week nights like a Tuesday or Wednesday. Rarely crowded and if you go after the dinner rush, around 7:30pm, you can usually get seated immediately.

Oh an the rolls are to die for! I just wish they would bring more! I also love the fact that for a chain, when they ask how I want my steak done, if I say I want it mooing, they say "OK!"

They use decent cuts of steak too. If you get a bad cut, just say something and they fix it. I had a particularly grisly piece and was struggling to cut it. I didn't say anything to the waitress but the manager walked by asking people how their meal was. He saw me struggling and stopped by. Without even asking me, he apologized and offered me a new steak, on the house. I said OK as long as it did not reflect poorly on the waitress or cooks 'cause I was content with it. He said that he was glad to hear I was satisfied with the service but he was not satisfied with my dinner and that they could do better. He returned in about 10 minutes with a new steak and fresh sides, took my old plate and then picked up the table's bar tab as well for the inconvenience. That was way cool and pretty much unheard of in a chain. I've gone back to that Texas Roadhouse multiple times since. Usually on the way back from hitting the Cabela's in Hamburg, PA.

Knoxville...Calhoun's is one of the "locals" that I was referring to. They are still here (7 in ET and 2 in Nashville). They are excellent and have won several national awards with their ribs and sauce. I did some business with the founder of that group of restaurants (Copper Cellar, Calhoun's, Smoky Mountain Brewery, Cherokee Grill, and Chesapeake's) early in my career and he is one of the best restaurateurs I've ever dealt with. If you are ever in Knoxville, Nashville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge or Lenoir City do not hesitate to eat at any of the restaurants mentioned above. They are all very good.

We've had a Texas Roadhouse near us for a couple of years now. Easily my least favorite steak house in the area. They really don't even compare well to other chains like Outback IMHO. Eh, to each his own.
