Well I just needed to vent seeing things are just going to crap the last week or so.
Well anyways about a month ago my girlfriend's grandmother passed away and it was very hard on the family. I attended the funeral and just a lot of things with her family and problems arose and put a huge amount of stress on her. Well seeing it happened in MI they did not have a burial due to the ground being frozen and that will take place this weekend on saturday.

Well this along with her finding out her younger sister is Anorexic and possibly having to go into a hospital and won't be able to attend college in the fall is really hard on her.

Also add that her dog of 16 years was put to sleep this last saturday and that the job she wanted so badly and was told she was going to get went to someone else today is just making for one of the worse couple of days ever.

I'm also feeling the pressure because I want to be there for her but lately its hard seeing all this is going on. I'm just asking for people to keep us in their prayers and thoughts if possible as its going to be a hard next couple of days with the burial on saturday.

It'll get better like Mike says. My week has not been as bad as yours but man am I dragging....approaching eight months out of the country, overworked and overburdened. I need some time off. I lost both parents in the last two years. My mother last spring...by August I was in China with my immediate family working. I really never gave myself the time to grieve. Now I'm just SPENT! And I move through each day slowly.

But I know it'll be better soon...you have my sympathy and condolences.

A lot of people have been having truly tough times these days. Keep your head UP!

2009 was the worst times I have personally experienced and unfortunately things have seemed to continue into 2010. Our family has suffered the loss of several dear family members, two of those in the last two months, financial devastation, destruction of property, another family member indicted for his boss scam, a severely strained marriage... the list keeps going. Blew my back out shoveling snow in Feburary. Medical insurance goes away next month.

In the last week my 17 year old son has a giant cyst just appear on his neck, he will have surgery in the next day or two...praying for NO surprises.

Times are really tough...but through all of that I have my rig!
I can pop in the Beatles Love Songs or whatever the tunes of choice are at the moment and the band begins to play right here in my living room.
I find great solace in that.

Mine's not much better. Just went to the viewing last night of a lifelong friend and fellow retired police officer, who decided life wasn't worth living any more. :(

Hang in there, we'll get through this.

Sorry to hear of your woes Brother. We just lost a 29 year old mentally challenged cousin to a brain tumor he's been suffering with for 3 years. He was one of the most loving, caring, fun human beings that ever walked this earth.

On top of that a multitude of health issues with both me and my wife which is killing our already meager incomes. The past few months we've run out of money two weeks before the month ended and we get paid once a month. We've had to scrounge those two weeks to put food on the table for our 13 year old.

I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Do the same man as things always happen for a reason and when you come out of the other side, you are a better man for it.

Things will get better, they always do!!!! A good attitude to cop is f&^K it, as you have no control over these problems so there's no sense in worrying or agonizing over them.

God bless you, and we'll add you to our daily prayer list.

Sounds like we are all in the shitpot. Lost my wife to cancer last September. Christmas day I was getting out of a grader, slipped and fell off, shattered my wrist, been off work since. Things could be worse...I guess.

yeah seems like everyone has problems lately and I'm not saying mine are worse than others and I do feel bad for everyone going through stuff.

Its just hard with the stress but soon summer will be in full swing and that always helps me clear my mind. Waterskiing for sure a lot this summer is always my get-a-way and can't wait to hit the water.

Dang! Things are bad aren't they :( Not to try and start a "top this" type of thing as lots of folks have been going through far worse things but in the last 18 months I have: lost my mom, job of 27 years then my dad. was in the hospital for multiple blood clots in both lungs. My only son got married then announced the week after his wife was pregnant, then a month after that she moved back to texas. Still looking work also "sigh:

But on the bright side I have tunes to keep me going, an incredible wife, a goofy cat and the folks here at the Polk forum :)

Agree with Keiko...peaks and valleys. There is no telling where events will put you. Sometimes bad stuff happens and truly positive outcomes result.

We just had to move due to a crime wave and a break-in last Monday at our house. 3rd time in 3 years and the shooting deaths around us had us already contemplating a move. They used my patio paver to break in....luckily they didn't take my Amplitrex or any stereo gear, but did take sentimental jewelry and wife's laptop.

We have two mortgage/rent payments now, but truly love our new place. We are closer to work and my son has a new day care school staffed by University Education grads and his best friend is in the same class. It's right near my job too.

Hang in there man, just be there for her and you two will come through all of this in time.

Oh well, just rolled in the RCA 12AT7s yesterday that Jon sent me and the vinyl spinning has begun....Attitude check? 'F' it! :p:D

The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same.

Seemed appropriate--- the quote is from Carlos Castenada :)

I can't do the treadmill, bro. They wire me up and shoot me up with Dobutamine to get my ticker pumping.

I had that done two years ago when I had the acute pancratitis attack. It is very uncomfortable and more anxiety provoking than the treadmill.

Great point George. However, believe it or not making oneself miserable takes more work than being happy not to mention the stress it puts on your innereds.

    Talk about a bad week how's this;

Got a nasel spray called Migranol that within minutes takes the excrutiating pain I've been suffering in my head (for eight weeks now), face and neck down from a 10 to a managable 7. Wake up last Saturday night, suffocating. My uvela swelled my throat shut and my mouth and throat was so dry it was glued over my windpipe. Jumped out of bed while shaking my wife awake (she's an RN) meanwhile I get a mouthful of water in the back of my throat trying to unglue the uvela. My wife was getting ready to do a tracheotomy meanwhile I start to passout when she pulled the uvela loose. The cause; the Migranol.

See the doctor on Monday to follow up on my out-of-control blood sugar despite proper diet and medication. Doc tells me to stop using the Migranol. Now I'm in excrutiating pain again and the only meds they will give me for migraine or severe headaches is not covered by my pharmacy plan to the tune of $90. They give my Tylenol with Codeine. That's like trying to shoot an elephant with a bee bee gun.

Doc & neurologist recommend coming off of Metaphorman, the diabetes drug I've on to see if that is the cause of these severe headaches and to also get an MRA (as my MRI was negative but was done without contrast) and get an EKG.

EKG results; abnormal. Have to get a stress test. Doc tells me that stress and anxiety are likely exacerbating problems not to mention the excrutiating pain compounding the issues. Doc tells me to quit smoking, I tell him okay but isn't that going raise the stress level even higher, he says yes and to wait until all tests come back, WTF??? Ask doc if I can do the chemical stress test as my head pain, knees and hips won't take the pounding on the treadmill an will quit long before my pulmanary system does, he says, "no, just do it."

In the meantime after stopping the Migranol my uvela turns white and is very painful not to mention swallowing very difficult. Doc swabs for strep and other cultures, result, negative. Doc has no clue what's wrong with the throat now but has kept be off the Migranol. Thinks the Migranol allergy caused a fungus and/or yeast infection, gives me a script for a swish and swallow medication and refers me to an ENT. Another effin doctor to see!!!

Follow up Friday with the Nurse Practitioner diabetes speacialist and the doc.

Nurse takes me off metaphoman and puts me on Lantus shots for diabetes & Tricore for very elevated Triglycerides. Turns out both are tier four drugs, cost; $313 per month. Gives me samples of Lantus and tells me to call her when I find out the actual costs of the medications. Go to pharmacy, cost for both listed above. Call Nurse Practitioner to consult with my insurance formulary as to what drug can be substituted in the tier one level which is affordable to me. She never calls back.

In the meantime, I'm still in excruciating pain and have run out of the Tylenol with codeine which brings the pain level down from a ten to an eight which I'll take anyday over the writhing 10 pain. Call Neurologist for refill, never calls back.

Wife is bleeding profusely when going to the bathroom has to get colonoscopy Tuesday.

Sitting here trying to be calm, head in excrutiating pain with no pain meds to help. Have to eat soft foods like oatmeal because of painful swallowing.

Call doctor this morning about excrutiating pain. Calls me back, tells me to go to the emergency room to get pain meds WTF??? Why can't he just prescribe something I ask? He tells me he's not confortable prescribing pain meds for the headaches until the MRA & Stress test results come back! BTW tried to schedule both MRA and Stress test yesterday, offices closed early as it's Friday.

Is it me or is there something wrong with this picture. . . go to the ER to get pain meds, it's okay if they give them to me but not okay for him or the neurologist to write a script for them.:confused::confused: and frustrated.

I feel like I'm in an Abbott & Costello routine because both docs keep going round and round saying, "I don't know." WTF??? They sound like when Bill Cosby in his "Himself" routine asks his "brain damaged" kids why they did something, the reply, "I don't know!" At least I can laugh about that.

I can't tell you how many times in the past three weeks from three different doctors I've heard, "I don't know." That's almost as bad as them saying, "you're going to die."

Stopped taking Metaphorman yesterday as advised but can't start Lantus shots until this evening. In the meantime, blood sugar is through the roof! WTF???

That enough for now as I'm getting frustrated and angry reliving this BS!!!
