8 gauge! I'm running 10 and I thought that was thick. Some websites say 12 is good enough for any application. Screw 'em.
One question, did you buy them preterminated or did you futz with them yourself..

    a 400 watt x 5 amp...Yep,,,thats what I need too. Maybe the 7x400 tho.
Big speakers and lots of clean high fidelity power..the best combo.
So, like what are going to do with the other 3 channels?
    Get some sda's?
    You done good.

The amp is 425x5, and I got a really good deal on it. I waited for months befor I bought it. I custom made the wire with monster bannas, they are quick and easy to plug and unplug. Thought i was wondering if they take a little power. I don't know right now as to what i am going to do with the other three. I have the polk auido RTi 12's and with the three 7 inch woofers you just can't get that low end bass, but i love the highs so mabey a speaker upgrade to use the last three.

i have a m1.5t and that is no slouch in the power deparment. That beging said a 7 can't make bass like a 15 or 12 for that matter. I don't really understand why polk dosn't make a large bass woofer with no ampflication. My run-in with a amp woofer section didn't go to well but hey that is the way it goes.

I have a 400x7 modle and love the amp. One thing to watch out for is if your using banana's in a rack that you need to move is the speaker wires might come out. But you sound like you are using big enough wires that it should fill up the hole in the naners and the screws in the them should lock down hard.
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

I would look into replacing the wire, while the guage is good with that amp you will notice a SQ shift IMO.

Polk doesn't make a big woofer cabinet ( 12"-15" ) because they're belief is if you ad up the area of 3 -7" like on a RTiA9 it equals out in area as a single large 1. A 7" can react faster due to not having as much resistance fighting or cupping air like a 12 or 15. That is they're reasoning

That is a solid line of reasoning but, the sound waves proagate throught the air. When a seven hits it starts out smaller and will always be smaller than a 12 or 15 fireing at the same time in the same postion. That is why the 7's hit faster, but they also don't hold a note as long either. I guess there are pro's and con's but you can just put a 12 10 7 6 5 and one inch tweeter in a tower and we will be all set.

That's why the SDA's still play with the best of them. A bunch of 6.5's and a 10 to 15 inch passive sub move a lot of air.
