Hey Guys,

I bought a used pair of Lsi7s that sound amazing but have some pretty bad scratches on one of the side panels. If I was going to use stain to repair it, what brand/color of stain would you recommend? Obviously I could just restain all the panels, but I would like to avoid all that extra work if possible;)

Thanks,
Paul

You might consider something like this:

I know it seems cheesy, but they work quite well. I've used them on bookshelves, and while they won't completely get rid of scratches, it will make them much less noticeable.

There are some other products that can be rubbed in to mask scratches in wood grains. Remember the secret is that wood has grain...grain is darker than wood...and even what B-jerky has recommended may work because of that. If the color is close enough it will blend it to match the rest of the wood. If it is darker the stain or marker will look like 'grain'. Depends on just how BADLY scratched you unit is...because if it's really marked up you'll have to refinish.

Thanks for the help guys. The marker idea got me looking around and I ending up picking this up at the office depot right around the corner. They worked *okay*, but I will probably end up just refinishing the wood panels eventually.

Real wood veneer on the LSIs...Refinishing is an option, but the veneer is thin, so deep scratches could be tricky
