Polk LsiM series IS NOT discontinued

I know there's been some speculation about this. Not sure why it's posting with extra line spaces but....read below...
"Hello, this is Ken from Polk Audio. The LSiM series is not discontinued. We are only selling them at two places, on our website, and on Adorama.com. We sell to Adorama first, then what is left over they are sold on polkaudio.com

"We have a bunch in stock now that we are shipping to Adorama in the next few days. I can’t sell them yet because they are allocated for Adorama."

Odd that Polk would voluntarily limit their market availability...
In either case I'm saving my pennies for what's on the horizon. -

You did.Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. I don’t care what others say. Jesse is always right. Steered me in the right direction on my speaker cables. Peace. DMIT Magnum MH-750, Monster HTS 5100MKII, Sony 77" Class - A80CJ Series - 4K UHD OLED,PS4, Def Tech 15” sub,LSIM 706c, Sunfire Signature Grand 425 x 4,Parasound hca 120, LSiM 702 x 4, Oppo 103D, SDA SRS 1.2, Pioneer Elite SC63 , Pioneer Elite BDP-05 “Why did you get married if you wanted big speakers?”

Might be backstock of components related to the LSiM series but I doubt they are fabricating all components brand new moving forward. Probably have a bunch of those Dynamic Sonic Engines left and can’t use them in anything else.

Pretty standard 21st Century marketing, isn't it?

Demand and supply.

Models are always upgraded over the years. The LsiM series may be sticking around, but i'm sure they're not blowing out current stock at these crazy prices, only to not make any changes. No excuses!
-
LSiM may be updated, but there won't be any new product in that line... Something wicked this way comes

Was thinking about new end tables myself. -
So many options
Pioneer CS-05 fairly leap to mind! Audiophile tip: be sure to put plants on 'em!
Empire "Grenadiers" (pick your price point):
Radio Shack "Optimus 6"
source: www.radioshackcatalogs.com (1969)
Altec 895A "La Paz"
Maybe the next generation of Polks will pick up these vintage retro styling cues, too!

well, they'll have to add Alexa support, of course.

So the "new shipment" from China of LSiMs is ONLY being sold at one place in the world - online at Adorama.com at slashed prices.
Sounds like they are discontinued to me! -

It is all very odd, I agree. But they are not at slashed prices on Adorama anymore. -
Well maybe for now. The new LSiM towers are all out of stock anyway. I know they told me there would be no new 707s in the future. We shall see.Oh, Listen here mister. A thought experiment. The LsiM series was introduced in 2012, right? It's the same price today, it was then, correct? The inflation calculator estimates that $1,495 in 2012 → $1,640.94 in 2018. But no price increase. I worry that they are cutting corners somewhere to make a profit. Or maybe now with the tariffs - they have given up on the LsiM as a profitable revenue source and are now preparing another new, more profitable line. -
Well I can tell you the LSiMs I just purchased have different terminal nuts than the ones I purchased in 2016 and the glue around the dust cap on one of my centers drivers is just a tiny bit messy. Oh yeah, the tweets on the new ones seem to be lacking some kind of coating that the 705 tweets have. Cutting corners though, I doubt it.

Production costs usually decrease over time for products such as these.

The binding post nuts of the 705s I bought last year and of the 707s I bought in July of this year have the style shown in your 2016 photo. The nuts shown in your 2018 photo look like Vampire BP-Hex nuts.

The hex nuts and (2018) tweets are also on the 702f/x I purchased at the same time as the 704.
If I were a betting man, the “new” speakers from Adorama are more along the lines of refurbished. Take a close look at the cement in the 2018 tweeter and compare to the 2016. There is a big difference in the quality of the application. I wonder if the speakers are being assembled with “b” stock parts.Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. I'm not saying Polk is doing this. I have no idea. But one has to wonder. Here's a perfect example of what inflation causes companies to do. Toblerone has been making chocolate longer than Polk has been making speakers yet due to the rising costs of goods i.e. the ingredients, their new bars, well, look at the image. It says it all.

The company was faced with a choice, raise prices, sell smaller bars, or make the bars look the same size with the wrapper on.

I wonder if those brass binding post pair can be sold in Europe. Europe has some funny regulations over there and I believe all binding post must be of the insulated type like in the first picture with the plastic nut

Or maybe they switched to cheaper sweat shop labor? But again I want lower prices no matter who gets screwed. -
Yeah idk I mean they seem to sound fine, but man it’s not the typical workmanship you get from Polk. I know they are a higher quality driver. A little disappointed that they look DIY though.Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky.
