So here I am: Always loved sound, but never considered myself an audiophile. I just like good tunes and really like well-engineered sound in a movie. As a kid I would annoy my parents with an old Marantz receiver connected to some long-forgotten cones and would crank BTO, Pink Floyd, and Edgar Winters on vinyl and 8-track. Soon moving up to cassette and louder fare like Metallica, but never forgetting the likes of Ozric Tentacles or Dave Brubeck. I loved good sound. I moved to the new movie format of DVD with the first Matrix, and the positional sound that seemed to be hinted at by the likes of 'Floyd was suddenly hitting my ears. From that point forward, I never stopped tweaking, upgrading, trading, and shaping my collection of hardware into something that gave me pleasure when watching movies.
I still listen to music, and run a local server with FLAC 24-bit tunes feeding into my ears, but my real focus is still that theater-like experience... to the chagrin of my family.
