In my youth I did this to one of my SDA drivers. I think I used Shoe Goo or rubber cement to repair it. Held up for years.

Also see if the guy can glue the magnets for you so they don't arrive shifted or at the very least pack them extremely well (no bubble wrap). I use old paper bags crumpled up.
