  • You'll be pleasently surprise, as I am right now.... I just stuck in SW: CW played Chapter 3 ( my favorite) at reference level. During the sequence where he say, "We are making our final approach to Coruscant", the RS SPL meter hit a 114.5!!! I am MORE than please with this finding. As before it was only peaking at…
  • Haha, don't worry, I got the one plug in right now. I lost 2db from the Avia test. But since it was 4-5db hot, it's okay. 2-3db hot is still pretty good. I'll replace the previous graph with a new one to show the 16hz setting.
  • Well instead of setting the SS filter to 25, I went 16hz. This flatten out the the rest of the sub-sonic frequency. I think this works in my room because my sub is on the opposite side of the room where it opens up to my dinning room and kitchen. With all that space. Oh and it didn't change anything from the 40hz. So I…
  • yes please let me know which setup you planning to get. I don't want to drop a few hundred to get the mic/preamp/calibration, and only to be disappointed :) Please post review if possible!
  • I'm thinking of getting TrueRTA with a calibrated Mic ... the spreadsheet is just time consuming Anyone heard good things about TrueRTA?
  • One couldn't stress enough on how important it is to have a sub-sonic subwoofer. To really enjoy your movies at its most potential. For most music listening 40hz would be your lowest, this will include rap music with BASS. The only other music that I know that plays down beyond 40hz are classical organ. However if you are…
  • Okay after playing around...with the x-over...which didn't seem to help much. But what seem to really help is the Phase control on the SVS. I got the 100-50hz as flat as I could. But I just can't tame 40hz. I moved the Sub away from one wall, but still it's hitting pretty high. Here are the results
  • Okay here is what I got with the LSi25 playing by itself without the SVS. Here is the SVS playing by itself without the LSi25 sub portion. Looks I now know which speaker is contributing all the 80hz. However it looks like 40hz is the room's resonant frequency. Would you agree?
  • I just like to go on the record that I truly don't believe in amp specs. Damping factors, THD, Sensitivity level, etc...every manufacture come up with a number with different technics. To me these specs are useless to compare amps by different manufacture. However I do believe in speaker specs using Theil-Small.
  • The mapping of the graph is taken after I have change all the lower portion of the LSi25 to a "full" range setup. So I am running the Lsi25 currently as full range, and SVS as the .1 I have taken a look at the Behringer, its quite nice. I am certainly consider this as my last alternative on fixing my peaks. I'm going to…
  • Okay let me explain what happened with the speakers. In the LSi25 manual, there is a "recommended" setup for daisy-chaining the LSi25 sub portion as LFE channel. I have been doing that. LFE output from receiver to R-Sub than out to L-Sub, than to the SVS. I have since changed that prior to a new calibration. Talked to some…
  • Thanks for the comment. However it depends on the setup, and how the box are tuned and what you are trying to accomplish. W7 are not db SPL speakers. Nor are they SQ. But somewhere in-between. I have my car setup towards the SQ, so booming isn't exactly what I intend it for. My box is sealed, you are probably running a…
  • okay that sounds almost right. But here is a few things. First you have to figure out what you are doing with your system. If it is going to be in competition, than you WILL NEED more deep-cycle battery(batteries). Because they only allow you to turn on the ignition for 60sec, before you enter the platform, from than it's…
  • Okay I just have jump in here. I am here on the Polk forum because of my home stuff...but seeing that JL is being talked about...I must add my comment. I run 2x500/1 to 2x10" W7. 500watt to each. I have to admit that it is definately a great setup. I have witness SPL up to 142db in my car. Actually if you were to compare…
  • Onkyo usually over rate their output power. Personally I don't feel Onkyo is par with Denon when comparing the same price range. Not to say they are bad, it's the opposite. They are just not really up to Denon. However Onkyo's "Elite" line, Integra is more than capable against Denon price/performance. I always liked Onkyo,…
  • yep he's right, you are still using 4-ohms only way to run 8 ohms is wiring them series :) you probably won't overload the reciever if you keep volume down, and not expect 85db+ Good luck, all LSi series requires really good amps. Even my $3k DTR 9.1 have trouble driving all my LSi
  • After the new calibration, I went ahead and map the SPL from 100-20hz using the AutoSound CD with the sine waves. Any suggestions I can get a flatter responds? This is with the SVS + the 2 main LSi25. This graph is used so that I set the 30hz frequency to 80db, than use the test tone to map out the rest of the frequencies.…
  • Okay, I did some what of a different re-calibration...because I notice something in Avia. Regardless if my BM is set to Small/Large on the main fronts, during the audio test I still get BASS! So what I did this time around was to set the front main to 87 (because of the ratshack meter), than disconnect my main, and than…
  • Oh all this time I thought the ratshack was off by +3 or +4 on the meter. Okay. And I understand what you are saying about my main speaker sub. Because every sub woofer playing it adds around +3db to the overall SPL output. What I will do tomorrow is disconnect my two main speaker's sub. And calibrate the SVS individually…
  • I use +4 because of the Ratshack +3 thru +4 variation. I am not aware of deviation from Avia. Maybe you direct me, I am also on the avsforum.
  • The one to look for is the the Denon 5900 when the DVI is activiated. This is truly going to whip those "so-call" DVI players.
  • it's about 6-7" away from the a corner of the wall...and area that opens is about 14' wide...and it opens up pretty good.
  • I have 20-39PC+ for a while now. I must admit, mine doesn't do what everyone's does. Mine doesn't knock down pictures from the wall, or shake things off the table. So I'm a little disappointed in that sense. I'm running my 20-39PC+ hot, about +4 from 85db on Avia. Still can't get my house to fall apart. So I don't know…
  • Yes that is truly the case. However it has been discussed in the avsforum that the 5900 do not convert DSD to PCM.
  • If you want to utilize your DVI, get the Denon 5900. It truly the reference for the universal players
  • You can probably get a used set of RDC-7, and RDA-7 for about 5k. Check Ebay, from time to time RDC shows up, but RARELY. The new Integra DTC are nice, but it lacks upgradeability. The whole point of pre/pros are the fact that manufacture upgrade their pre/pros so you don't have to upgrade a new unit every year.
  • I have the 20-39PC+, and let me tell you right now. WAF is very low with this thing. The minute I opened the box, the first sentence from my wife's mouth was. "Oh hell no, you are NOT putting that thing in my family room!" It took hours and hours of harsh negotiation for me to keep this one. But it was well worth it.…
  • The RDC-7, RDA-7 is a very nice setup. I originally was going to purchase this setup, but at the time....having 2 very large unit wasn't in my plans. So I ended up with the little brother Integra DTR 9.1 The RDC-7 of course is a Pre/Pros, but it is very similar to the 9.1, of course with all the nice XLR Balanced output,…
  • it's all about compromise! She doesn't want you to keep those $120 speakers? Well...why not get her something or take her to some place that's worth $120?? I had to bargain and harsh negotiation with mine with my SVS. She didn't care for the price, just the size and the ugliness of the SVS. But as a compromise we worked…
  • Yep I have to agree. The AVM20 is definately on my list of Pre/out. However spending $4k+ you might as well save a little more and get a Lexicon MC-8. Which is way way on top of my list :) Anyway, AVM20 is a kick **** unit. No doubt.
