wooohoooo !!

I got a great deal on this last week from the Sony website.
Not as good as some other got, but it brings me into the world of Blu-ray and it has a two year replacement warrenty...

Now I just need the killer TV to go with it !!

It will be replacing my Good `ol Yammie , that I paid full bore price on ($650)back when DTS was the new thing !!
TOTL line yammie at the time, but now she`s pullin bedroom duty...

Now f I could only get another killer deal on one for my office ....!!!

I bet the disc`s are cost a small fortune though

Last weekend I was able to get 10 Blu-Rays (6 james bond and 4 others) for $78. The deals are out there, just be willing to wait for them.

Congrats on the player Robert. (I ordered mine from Sony before you did, but they were listed as on backorder when I put my order in so I have not even gotten notice it shipped yet, let alone recieved it.) At this rate, I will have movies long before something to play them on....

    Michael

Edit - Deal I got at Amazon is still going on if you want some decent blu-rays on the cheap just to have something to play on it. (Prices have gone up a few bucks since I placed my order, but I still bet you could get 10dvd's for under $100.....)
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

I got the blue ray player for free. It was a best buy bundle package when you bought a 32 inch xbr6 sony. My mom needed a T.V. and didn't care about the blu ray player. It is nice, I have it hooked up to my 60 inch XBR Sony. It supports 5.1 sound but there is a newer one out the supports 7.1. It's a nice player. I like the way it improves normal DVD's. So far so good.
Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
Yamaha RX-V2500 System, Carver A753 3 channel amp.

Polk HT system 2: , SRT system with f/x 1,000's rear speakers on 7.1 system currently using Onkyo TX-RZ820 receiver, powered by Sunfire Grand Theater amp

    Polk Speaker collection: SDA SRS 1.2tl x 2, SRT system, SDA SRS 2 P/B, SDA 2A, SDA 1C Studio, SDA CRS+, Monitor 7B & 4, SRS 3.1tl, RTA 15tl, LS90, LSI 9

I think you are mistaken. It bitstreams dolby true hd and dts master and it also decodes dolby true hd on board. I dont know how you are not getting 7.1.

I could be wrong. The salesman thought the S550 was the one with the bundle package. It was the S350. I tried to see the difference by glancing at the boxes. The S550 said it was 7.1 capable. I did not see it on the S350 box and since the holiday's are here I have not played with it much. I just saw a normal DVD movie on the S350 and it looked good. Can't wait to see a blue ray disc on it.

I see. The 550 has the 7.1 analog input for people who have older model receivers without HDMI. THe 350 does not have that. I think thats what you saw on the box. ;)

Yes, that is what I saw. I just checked out the two units on the best buy site and it seems the S350 had a better review score than the S550. It looks like we got a good one.

    Outputs..not inny's ;)

7.1 analog outputs on the Sony BD550. I am pretty sure the Sony BD350 does not have those analog outputs
