It seems inflation has driven the price of a new 555SE up

Probably still a bargain but I'd really like to hear some impressions before I leap. I might get one of these to mess around with for awhile.

A little more info on the 555 SE. Sorry if this is a bit of a derail, but overall I think it's completely appropriate.

Me personally, I'm not sold on the whole Emotiva hype. I'd still choose a tried and true Adcom over Emotiva but............that would be a fun shootout to have. I just believe the Adcom has a better design philosophy. But who's to say the new Adcom brand owner didn't mess up a good thing...........that's why I want to try one out and see if they improved it, kept it the same or ruined it.

My guess is they updated a great amp and even made it a little better.

P.s. I have some feelers out right now to see if I can get one of these soon.

I'd get a used 555 and be done with it. The new ones just gave me a little hope for the used market 5 years down the road;) EMO's won't handle a 1 ohm load. Not that this matters for most, but it does show the beef that Adcom has/had. When I get some coin I am going to get larger PS caps for my 565's, and point to point instead of those metal busses. I would also love to spend a little time to figure out what components are in the signal path, and upgrade them:)
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

EMO's, ha:D! I know you're talking about Emotiva, but that's funny. I know this has nothing to do with the subject but...here is the Urban Dictionary definition of emo:

Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.

I work with some "emo" people.

Ok back to subject...I am really enjoying this Adcom 555 so far. It is a step up in sound quality over the 5500 I had used previously. It was definitely worth the $250 and it is in great shape!
