I always found the PMC's a little sterile, and this is coming from someone who likes their sound clean. They're monitors through and through, so expect a very flat response.
Focal, on the other hand makes some monitors that somehow manage to NOT sound like monitors. I've been rocking out to their SM series in my buddy's studio and they're absolutely killer. I've been impressed with everything I've heard from Focal, so give them a good hard listen.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Well I am doing a 30-day trial on a set of Sound Lab Millenium, went and saw a dealer on Saturday and listened to them in his sound room so we struck a deal. I figured its time to try an all out STAT speaker.
BTW I did get to hear an all out assault on Electro-Stat systems, for just 128,000, the Beveridge with its 180 degree dispersion sounded magnificent.

I dont think so, or maybe they do. Palmetto Audio, I know they advertise on the Gon, so come to think of it they likely do. A pretty good guy named Steve Davis, they had alot of nice gear and speakers and he is willing to cut a deal.

Of the 3 models I have heard maybe the little DB1 was a bit sterile mainly because of it's lack of bass extension. But the others(TB1,AB1) had a nice balance between musicality and accuracy with very good midband.I always found the PMC's a little sterile,
I understand the fully active versions of the BB5 and MB 2's driven by Bryston 4B and 7B SST's and 10B crossovers is shear sonic delight.Testing

Well this is getting interesting, the Millenium's I am demoing have developed a problem with their stat panels that is causing the mid-bass to sound distorted, very possible the panels are not holding proper bias, anyway, the panels will be off for replacement to Sound Lab, in the meantime the dealer is sending me out some Quad ESL-63 to play with on his dime.

What else does the dealer have?

Dave,
He has alot of higher end gear along with some mid-fi products. Seems he takes alot of things in on trade as folks move on, he is into high power stuff so you will not see set amps and such. If you call him (Steve) and mention my name you can ask him about what he can do for you with regard to the places like Music Direct and Acoustic Sounds and so on.
His internet business on the Gon is Palmetto Audio.

I see a new pair of Quads in Ted's future. The 63's are fantastic, the 988's a bit better at the extremes. I REALLY want to hear the new 2805's/2905's.
BDTI plan for the future. - F1Nut -
Could be, the Sound Labs are headed out tomorrow to Utah to get their diaphrams and stats redone and the Quads are on being shipped in. I saw them when I got picked up the first set they did look nice and have custom stands.
I did get a whopper of a PC delivered on Saturday which I am demoing from Virtual Dynamics. Right now I have the Polk 1C singing in the Shed and a few hours with them makes you wonder why even bother, these sound awesome. Nice to visit an old friend every once in a while.
