One of my favorite fantasy series is being made into a television show. (they are planning to cover one book per season) It is based on the sword of truth series by Terry Goodkind. (this series is where the quote in my sig comes from)
The show is supposed to start to air on Nov. 1st with a 2 hour opener. I have high hopes for this one.

I hope its a good one, but either way, it is definately a show I will be watching this weekend.

I am sorry to say you are 100% correct. It was aweful. Way to ruin a great book series. It was basically a xena / hercules replacement set in a different universe... quite dissapointing...
It may get better as the series rolls on (it is a great book series) but I am not really expecting it.
