Bi-Amping what is the ohms...
My 15 minutes are up (searching the web with no real understanding) so I'll post my question.
When a speaker is rated at 8 ohms (I assume that is with the brass jumpers), What happens to the load on the amp when the jumper is removed and you bi-amp the speaker? I hope that this is not a stupid questions but I can find the anwser anywhere. I assume that the passive crossover keeps the load at 8 ohms to the amp with or with out the jumpers.
What are the total watts the the speaker is reciving with 100 watts to the high and 100 watts to the lows. It can't be as simple and adding the two, can it?
Do the high and lows use different amounts of power?
I have notice that the sound of the material is a lot more punchy (alive, clear) and not as boomy (slow, mixed) , (punchy and boomy, I wish that I had more vocab) when i bi-amped rather than jumped.
Thanks in advance.

Each amp will only see the load of the section its driving.

Yes the individual load of each driver will be the same with or without jumpers. The drivers don't behave as though they were connected in paralleled when the jumpers are is installed.I assume that the passive crossover keeps the load at 8 ohms to the amp with or with out the jumpers.
Yes you just add power ratings for the specific impedances. Also its essential when bi amping that the amplifiers be the same or atleast have the same gain/input sensitivity or you will have a mismatch between the hi and low frequency ranges. What are the total watts the the speaker is reciving with 100 watts to the high and 100 watts to the lows. It can't be as simple and adding the two, can it?
Yes,bass frequencies especially below about 300 hz requires far more power than what a tweeter would need.Do the high and lows use different amounts of power?Testing

Thanks for the responce. Wow. Gone are the days when I just plug wires into the speakers and not think about a thing or even care.Reciver Pre/Pro - H/K AVR-347

For many folks here, that's where the fun begins.Gone are the days when I just plug wires into the speakers and not think about a thing or even care.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~
