Wall mounting a new LCD TV

Okay, I have decided to jump into the 21st century and get myself a new TV. 46" Samsung LCD looks to be the pick but still doing some last minute research.

My question though is wall mount options. How many of my esteemed colleagues here mounted the TV themselves and what wall-mount did you select?

I am leaning towards an articulated wall-mount and the TV I am looking at weighs 60 lbs. The price range on these is insane. Some of the mounts are almost 1/3 the cost of the TV.

    articulated mounts are spendy. I've hung quite a few TV's and it's not extremely hard just make sure you get the bracket level and mounted to studs, especially with the articulating ones
    i like the sanus brand just seems more user friendly than some of the others

    I have used a mount of theirs (not articulating) and it was great. Cost about $25 and everything else I found similar was at least 2-3 x as much. Hope this helps.

    Nice site, thanks. Also I noticed that you have to be aware of the following too:

    VESA measurements
    Maximum rated tilt

    The Samsung I am looking at has:
    VESA 600 * 400 mm
    "Do not exceed 15 degrees tilt when mounting this TV."

    Just want to do my homework before purchasing! :D

    Hi,

    There are some very nice wall mount systems available now. You need to figure out how you want to use your TV. Do you want to pull it out from the wall and swivel it to the side? Does it never need to be swiveled in the least? - or just a little bit? Tilted down?

    Is this a retrofit, or are you doing a serious remodel - such that your walls are down to the studs? There are some mounts available where your TV basically sinks right into the wall. I believe they can all be put it retrofitted, but some are probably easier if you are putting in new dry wall and you're down to the studs.

    Run the wires through the wall; make the power outlet level with the back of the TV, so that you don't see any wires once the TV is mounted. If you're going to pull the TV out from the wall and swivel it, make sure you have enough extra wire available. Use HDMI connections if possible, to minimize the number of wires you need to connect.

    hung mine the other day in the bedroom with the sanus VMPL50B it's there 30-50" tilt ran wire down through the wall.

    So I am picking up my Samsung 46" LCD tomorrow! :)

    I decided on a premier AM250 bracket and got that delivered to me yesterday. Now I am onto the power. I briefly looked around and decided on the Powerbridge In-Wall Power Cable. Figure this way I can still leverage my surge protector. I have to run some in-wall NM rated Romex (which I have a bunch of) through the wall from the supplied outlet back to the supplied inlet. From there you use the supplied 3-prong extension cord into your surge protector.

    Interesting system, check it out.:)
