I recently got some new audio gear and i am wondering how i go about hooking up the sub.
The reciever i have is a Harmon Kardon AVR247
The subwoofer is KLIPSCH RW-10D
My question is do i need to run three differant sub cables to this thing?
It has the l/r channel +lfe setting?
Do i need a cable for each channel and one for the lfe?
Or just one to what?
Thanks for helping me with my newb questions haha.

all you should need is one long RCA interconnect cable from your Harmon Kardon to the Klipsch subwoofer.. one cable.. it goes from the sub out of you HK to the input of your subwoofer..
good luck.. one cable. not two, not three. one cable.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Let us know what you think of that sub..... i've got a line in on a killer deal on one, but that would probably force me getting rid of at least one of my Omnis.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I had it hooked up for about a week now, just wanted to make sure i didn't need to send a signal to the other rca connections on the back of it.
But i like the sub alot. It has a nice deep note to it with a little punch. More deep noted than punchy though.
You do need to spend a little time setting it up as it will hit a sweet spot in the room/listening position and just overpower the rest of the system.
I had to turn things way down for this sub to make it blend.
But once you get it setup right it will give some nice defined bass and if you want to slam just add a little to it and talk about big bass at low volumes.Living Room Rig:D

Have you run any test tones on it? I love my S8s, but they seem to start to roll off at about 22hz pretty hard. They're REALLY fast and great subs for music, but i'm only about 95% happy with them for movie work. I'm just agonizing over whether i should get it or not. I figure i may as well. I can get my money back out of it easily.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Ok, well i put in a test cd to try out the sub. turned off the other speakers and went to town.
I did a wave from i believe 20khz down to 15hz. It played loud got deep shook everything and even at the very end the picture above to my right was shaking to the end of the wave.
Next i played differant hz from 20hz up to about 60hz.
Even at 20hz while the volume to your ear is low the picture next to me was shaking pretty decently to say sound was so low.
At 22hz i noted it as you said yours rolls off around there the volume about tripled already and the picture had some decent movement goin on.
At about 37hz the volume of the bass was that of something like having your ears stopped up. The sound wave felt/heard was the effect of goin deaf. Not by pain but in a sense of nothing else can be heard. almost a numb feeling in the ear.
38hz same way but seems twice as loud and it gets better.
39hz you get some normal feeling back in your ear and at 40 the sub is singing.
i must say is loves 40-50hz tones like crazy.
At 47hz being it's most potent it was loud very loud, very clear and i mean had the walls moaning they were shaking so much. That picture next to me was poping off the wall at the bottom about a half inch as i watched it.
It plays nice 50+ but i does trail off a bit and by this i mean volume as it should really.
Deeper notes = more dbs so it makes sense. I kinda jumped from 60 to 70 then 80 then 85 and stopped there and even at 85 it had a nice sound and was full feeling/sounding. things in the room still moved with the air as well haha.
So i guess if you want to know anything else let me know.Living Room Rig:D

Again though you need to have this sub in the sweet spot of the room. I reran speaker wire to my floorstanders last night as a buddy gave me a set of biwires for free he had gotten from his b-day"got three sets never returned em" and i had moved the sub.
At first it seemed to be lacking and as i walked over i felt the bass jump up about 5dbs next to the main door.
Sub had changed the area in which it was getting a nice sound wave. So i moved it back and thats when the test began.Living Room Rig:D

Did it actually hit down to 15hz and hold? How many hours do you have on yours?
I can get below 20hz on my S8s, but they just don't have the balls to really fill up my room down there.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

The test cd i have only has a wave down to 15 hz the lowest note held on the disc is 20hz.
It holds it pretty good no drop off in the tone at all from it.
By fill the room what do you mean? Sound solid throughout so to speak?
If so i'd say it does fill the room but at the same time has that sweetspot like i said that just really is loud and mean.
Prob about 25 hours total on it watched about 6-7 movies plus i ran the laptop to it and the kids watch some anime stuff with moms and she has watched some stuff as well. Plus reg tv and i listened to a few disc here and there.Living Room Rig:D
