There are people in this world who have never known a world without The Simpsons

I was reading a news story about TV shows and "The New Classics" and they listed The Simpsons. That have been on for 19 seasons. That's 19 years and honestly closer to 22 if you include the Tracy Ulman sketches.

Two decades of The Simpsons. That's amazing!

What got me thinking about it is that we have some interns here that are both 19 years old. They were both born in late 1989, right around when The Simpson's first episode aired in December of 1989. But Tracy Ulman started airing sketches in April or '87. The Simpsons pre-date the interns!

God, I feel old!

What's the record for longest running show, besides crap like soaps and talk shows?

I love The Simpsons, must admit their earlier stuff is my favorite.

Looks like Meet The Press with 61 seasons. First broadcast on November 6th, 1947. but, that may be considered a talkshow.

    Here's a list

Even if you don't count news / talk shows, sports, and game shows, there are quite a few. SNL, Sesame Street, This Old House, etc.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I think The Simpsons holds the record for longest running cartoon/animated series.

It's up there for sitcoms too.

I'm pretty sure I've seen every episode and I rarely miss a new one on Sunday nights.

IIRC, they've held that record for quite a while now.

I think 60 minutes (started in 1968) would be up there for one of the longest running shows on TV.. also daytime drama. As the World turns has been on for a long time too. the show debuted on Monday, April 2, 1956.
    PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Wow. I used to think people who weren't born when Star Wars came out were young. Looks like I need to adjust for the times.

Perhaps I should have been more clear in my first post, I really only meant to compare it to other sitcomes and shows like it...

Lets see, I don't smoke weed otherwise I can't have a cool job where I get to retrofit the Canadian Navy and I live just outside of Philadelphia where we have microbreweries out the wazoo. I haven't touched a Canadian beer in 10 years.

You floppy headed Canadians get all worked up over nuthin', ya know that? ;)
