Brad Mitchell did a review last month in Affordable Audio on the XPA 5...very high marks...maybe he'll chime in.

Thanks,
There are lots of opinions and reviews floating around about the XPA-5. Ultimately, no one else's opinion matters but your own. Just buy it.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

From what I remember, Emotiva has a 30-day return policy as well ... so you're not risking much by pulling the trigger, as you can always return it if you aren't happy with it.

Might have some issues if you try and run silver interconnects.
See this thread: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65124&highlight=EmotivaWithout music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid. ..... Frank Zappa -

This an issue with some silver IC's, and also many other very low capacitance/inductive IC's like PBJ's, and cables made with solid cables like the RG59 IC's out there. You can check Emotiva forums for further information. I think its a design flaw limited to just that series of amps. I have never had anyone have issues with my silver IC's except with that one amp. Me personally I would look at something different.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I can't address the XPA-5 but I do have a LPA-1. I'm using a HK AVR 435 as my pre-amp and LSI 15s as my front speakers. I love the amp. I know my AVR 435 didn't have the power to drive the 15s properly and the LPA-1 really brought them to life. I don't know all the terms to describe sound so all I can tell you is that I love what the amp did to my sound system. My GF even talks about how much better everything sounds.
A 30 day return policy, a five year warranty, how can you go wrong? -
I replaced an Adcom GFA545II with XPA-5 to drive LSi 15s. Couldn't be happier, much better dynamics, bass, detail, everything is a few levels above the Adcom. I've looked at all kinds of used amps before taking the plunge and couldn't find anything better based on reviews and specs.

Heh, the Fedex person (female) made me carry mine in... she wouldn't even attempt lifting it. LOL.
Haven't had much time to really listen to mine yet, but what little I have, I'm pleased. For the money, very good amp. I do wish they had made the covering out of a thicker gauge metal. Also, you may want to check and retighten all the screws, mine had some that were very loose. -
Thanks cfrizz!
You're right that the metal just seems like it should be a bit thicker compared to the rest of the amp, but I'm pretty sure it just seems that way because the rest of it is a tank. Also they made it any thicker, it would be quite unliftable of any normal person.
