Which Panasonic blu-ray

Is the Panasonic dmp-bd50 going to be that much better than the bd 30? The only difference I see is the 2.0 for internet conn.which isnt important to me I just want to watch movies thanks
My HT set-up Panasonic front proj, 120 in ws screen, ATI amp,Integra 9.8 pre-pro, 2 Polk rti150, cp 1000, 4 fx 1000, Pioneer blu-ray 2 SVS sub pb 12-ultra 2, & Paragon popcorn popper. ps 3 Coaster leather HT recliners.

    I believe the bd-50 will also internally decode the lossless audio formats in addition to bitstreaming them to an external decoder. So if your receiver/pre doesn't decode them, you can still listen to them.

    Planning on taking advantage of the walmart $100 gift card? If you can find a panasonic at your local store, I'd say it would be a great deal on a great player...

    Thanks.just got back from Wally world,it was 448.00 & I used the gift card to buy 4 blu-ray movies! I got the Onkyo 805 so it will decode everything plus the Pany 30 does the dts ma correct?

    The 30 will not internally decode anything, but since you have your 805 you would bitstream everything anyway so you will have all the new formats including DTS MA. I think you will be very happy with set up, I know I am.

    One more thing, unless you want to experience the dreaded DTS MA bomb you are going to want to update the DSP's in you Onk .

    Millerman sometimes this old man gets a little confused.are you talking about coax or through the hdmi output to decode everything.My Onkyo is just a 2 weeks old hopefully I wont need updating.I got Rambo 4,Spiderman 1&2,the space movie with Bruce Willis.thanks

    HDMI is the only way your Onkyo will be able to decode the new surround formats, and as for it be only 2 weks old I hope your right, but I'm pretty sure you will need to update it, just be careful when your watching movies with a DTS MA track.

    Yep BD-30 bitstream over hdmi -> 805 for decoding and out to your speakers

    coax and toslink are no good for the new lossless formats

    I would check your dsp firmware versions before you do anything. You never know, the fix has been out for awhile now, you may get lucky. But definitely don't test out your system with dts-hd ma until you know for sure it's safe. The horrible sound that comes out of your speaks with some disks will have your heart racing that you've blown them unless it's updated properly.

    I will do that I thought hdmi was the only way to get the new sound.In my ht Im using the Integra 9.8 & hdmi sound is AAA+++,the Onkyo 805 in the living room is also A+.Im still playing with both of them to figure out the new sound.thanks everyone.One more thing whats is wrong with the 805?

    Its not just the 805, alot of receivers and Pre amp that decode DTS MA has the problem , but it is fixable, so your Integra will also need updating, the link I posted earlier has the update steps for it also.

    Some DTS-HD MA tracks were not encoded properly and a few disks will have what decodes to a loud gunshot bang on them when played back on various receiver/pre-amps. This has the potential to cause damage to speakers as it's much louder than the original listening level. The 805 and 9.8 have an update to their DSP firmware that disables the faulty encoded signal from getting past them. Supposedly, new movies will be encoded correctly without the 'bomb'. But it's better to be safe since the DSP update is actually easier to do with the Onkyos than updating the main firmware.
