I know he's had both, and the back end of the rest of rig is something I hope to obtain one day - not due to price or status, but sound.
Nothing like hearing it on your own obviously, but I've gotten to know a lot of gear through my audio travels (Thanks Uncle Charlie!), and I've gotten to know too much of Mark honestly - our tastes are similar, and his opinions lean to the unbiased side - if it sounds good, it sounds good, if it doesn't it doesn't (regardless of pricepoint or label). Now that may not be equal to everyones taste obviously, but he's got a decent ear on things.
You asked for opinions, and now you want to debate them? Good luck in your search.

No, I do not want to debate them, just looking for the rationale behind a statement.Michael

Why? It's not like you are 3,000+ miles away with no dealers around. Come on man!
Get a grip. Shop around.

Thanks.I wanted to mate my Proac speakers with gear that was proven to have great synergy. Proac and ARC used to voice together and of the probably 50+ people that I have talked to over the years, more and more people liked the team of Proac & ARC. The tubes are definitely required for Proac speakers (although there will be some that say SS works) and the vote went to ARC due to the response that I received when asking questions. I heard the Proac 2.5 speakers with Cary 805C's and that was real nice.
A well known dealer in Milwaukee (Ultra Fidelis) talks very highly of the VS115.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
Don't make me drive over and listen to the VS115 myself.
The result of that might get expensive.
I was going to listen to some Stax anyway.
I better just leave my wallet at home to be safe.
Most reviewers give the VS115 good reviews. Getting
a side by side with the older series might be tough unless a
good trade comes in. I was lucky to be there when a VT60
was there. The ARC stuff doesn't stay in the trade in pile long."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others.
