Hi all,
I found this link on audiogon.
http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1214182065

By looking at the rest of the posts this one is way to cheap and I am having a problem trying to decided.. you know if it sounds to good to be true ....

Anyone here knows about this company?
How would you go about buying from this person, should you use paypal or credit card so that you can hopefully get your money back if anythng goes wrong ~ no delivery...
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sunfire is having a factory authorized closeout on the existing models as the new models are shipping in June or July. They have been all over the net and yes, they do have warranty. I thought about buying a couple of those and selling them, too, as I work for a distributor that sells Sunfire. Hmm...

Hopefully it is just a typographic error. GTA instead of TGA on the Audiogon link. I have a Pioneer Elite vsx-84txsi rated at 140 watts per channel. Would I hear a difference going to 200 watts per channel? How does Sunfire compare against Outlaw, Parasound, Rotel, and Krell?

Welcome AVphile. Yes you would hear a difference since your Pioneer isn't even coming close to actually putting out 140wpc.

All of them, Sunfire included will sound great. All are quality products that you can't go wrong with. I love my Sunfire components.

Went to my authorized local reseller and picked up a tga5200 in titanium to handle my lsi theater this am. I also bought black mamba II interconnects from aadvisor. It thus far is the best upgrade I've ever made. It sounds incredible. I've only listened to it for a couple of hours and I was astonished. I was previously using an Integra receiver. If you own lsi speakers, this amps sends 400 watts to each channel. Its a killer of a deal. I can't wait to crank up a movie.

By the way, if you go to Sunfire's website, they list the resellers. I think the company on agon is one. Go to their website. Double check though!

IMO if you are in need of a receiver, that is a terrific deal on a fine piece of equipment. Find out if you still get the manufacturers warranty- my Sunfire is getting fixed on warranty at this very minute. I bought it online, but they still honored the warranty when I had some trouble with it.

It really does make a difference. I had read all the posts about the power. To be honest I didn't think it would make a huge difference but I was wrong. I should have done it sooner.

    Well,
Here is an update, first let me thank everyone on this thread for the encouragement.
Great News, I order my Sunfire TGA5200 Monday and it arrived yesterday.
I am a proud father of my new amplifier :-)

First impressions; the transaction was no big deal, I went to DMC Website and I just did an internet order. Within minutes I got a notice that my order was shipping the same day. I was able to use my credit card, and as it turned out I was not charge for shipping. Total cost 1299.00, great so far.
The box looked like it survive a war, for a minute I was thinking I better record this on my camera just in case, it is not double box but as I look inside everything was pristine, and with a new smell, very important :-). Since this amp is no so heavy – one of the reasons I wanted an amp like this – I just don’t want to deal with 80lb plus of the average 5 channel amp like Rotel and BK.

Well this amp is a 5 channel amp, I can use it for bi amp or biwire. I am only going to use strait 5 channels.
Looking at the amp, I just had to sit back and think how simple looking 1300$ look like, there is just a very small switch in the front with an even smaller led, the switch makes the amp go into standby, only when it detects the audio signal and it comes to life. The LED changes from red to blue.

The back of the amp is where everything is… First impressions, I like the layout of all the connects; it has the capability to connect XLR and RCA inputs. The speaker binding posts are old looking at they don’t have the new presence of the Rotel (RMB 1095), I also notice that the Rotel has a hold which you can use to put the speaker wire to make sure is nice an secure, the Sunfire is solid – no problem I might add spades to the ends of my speaker cables and problem solved. The AC cable was a surprise to me, all the AC cables I see for amps are 3 prongs, yet the Sunfire is a 3 (on the amp) to 2 (to the Surge protector) prong connector, however no even a whisper of hum. I hope this is the case for the future…

As you probably guessed, you can not get a toy like this and not try to set it all up. I did, I have a 5.1 setup so this amp is what I was looking for. I am using signalcables analog II 6’ rca cables to connect my Pioneer VSX-812K pre-out to the amp done!, speakers connected to my amp done!. Ready for a movie…
Right from the start I can say I like it, my reference volume which does not mean anything used to be -25 without amp, with amp is -32, the sound is very crisp and I feel that I can crank it up and it will give me more..
At -32 reading the noise with my new SPL :-) and just pointing to the fronts and center one at the time the sound level was between 80 dB to 91dB , 91 being spikes… Not bad so far.
I will comeback with a bit more detail as I let the amp and the new interconnects acclimates.
All an all I am very happy and excited with my new toy.

I contacted the seller today and offered $1,050 for a silver, NIB 5200 shipped. This will be my 2nd Sunfire if they accept my offer. This purchase will upgrade my old HK amp which currently drives my secondary listening area (pool/poker room) but only pushes 80 wpc.

My plan is to match this with 4 Vienna Acoustic Hayden Grands in that room which are another upgrade from some old JBL 2's I have mounted on the wall. I'll let you know how it turns out!

Hockeyboy, man good luck with your offer, you can get it you will raise the bar as to how to buy the smart way.
I though it was a good deal as is that I just placed the oder without even thinking I could offer less since I was buying from a sunfire dealer. I was able to buy it for 1299 NIB shipped.
They also have the the TPG-5 for 2000 and I have to say if it had more of today's technology would have bought it without blinking.

My offer got declined so my instinct for always getting a better deal was unrewarded. I may end up paying 1299 because that is a good deal anyway. I am also considering the Emotiva since it's hard to justify spending much money in this room, but already have a Sunfire and love it.

Yep. Got it from the link above, to a link at the DMC site, to an ebay link by the same guy. It was originally listed as "buy it now" for $1299 and after I made a "best offer" for $1,050 which was declined, the seller made a "counteroffer" for $1150. SOLD! Thats a hell of a deal for NIB.

I actually bought my Sunfire 7200 on the internet, and it broke down within the first year. I didn't even save the receipt. When I called Sunfire, they just asked for the serial number off of the back, and honored the warranty in full based on date of manufacture (although I did have to pay shipping one way). The good service is what compelled me to pick up a 5200 for my secondary room; at a great price from a seller recently reviewed in this thread.

I will control both of these with my Marantz 8001 AVR who make terrific products Olilugo. The Marantz/Sunfire combo really take care of my LSi's and passive subs as well. Although I must admit with the Sunfire, and good quality AVR with pre-outs will likely do a good job.

Here is the pre I want when it comes out!
