Tube Tamper Danger?

I'm going to ad a IEC style connector to my tube amp so that I can trade out the power cord in it. My goal is to lop off the power cord, and solder the leads onto the connector. Is there any electrical danger in doing this? I know that there are high voltages around tubes, but thought it only applied to poking around the board and the caps. I figured it was better to double check then cook myself tonight. :eek: Thanks.

    On the power side(power cord) of the tranformer, it's the usual 120 volts.

    On the amp side of the transformer, that's where you get 400+ volts.

    Cool, thanks. I'll Install the plug tonight and then demo my new AR Pro II power cord vs my PS Audio cord. The plug won't be grounded since it's in a wood chassis, but whatever.

    It's good fun Scott, and install the IEC plug from the start. It's a great option and I've enjoyed it only after one day! (Plus the fact that I can upgrade the power cord is sweet) PM once you start to build if you have any questions.

    Thanks. I will. I am about to start a big job in the next couple of weeks so I should have an influx of some additional cash which will allow for me to indulge in this kit.

    I would love to hear some more of your thoughts on how it sounds.
