Is this Amp a good combo with my speakers?

Marantz MM9000 5-channel Amp - I need more power and warmth.
Will this amp do the trick?
Is there a better choice for $500can?
I'm 50% music/50% HT
I'm in Canada btw.
Also looking for a surround processor to go with it. Any advice would be great. I currently have a cheap old Yamaha receiver that hurt my ears - way too bright.

    While I have not heard that amp I have read good things about it. I am demoing the RTi A5 speakers with the amp in my sig and they sound great. If I were to recomend another amp around that price range it would be the B&K AV5000 (series 2 if possible).

    Having said that the amp will get you some warmth but your source will probably have a bigger impact. Since you are getting a 5 channel, amp and since I am a B&K fan boy :), the Ref 50 are starting to come down in price on Audiogon. There is one on there now for 699.00 OBO.

    At one time I owned RTi series with a Yamaha receiver and eventually added a Rotel Amp. Night and Day. While I have never owned a Marantz amp, I have owned other equipment from Marantz. The Marantz will help smooth things out. I think you will be fine. If CAM is your source, it looks like a good one. Good luck.

    PS - I assume the Yamaha receiver has enough preouts.
