RTA12's vs. LSi 15's...

Which one do you prefer & why?
I've got RTA12C's & am at least considering moving up to the the LSi 15's. I've got an Adcom GFA 5500, so I'm thinking I've got the needed power (Official 200 wpc club mbr.).
I plan to get to the one & only place in town that has the 15's to get a listen, but what do you think?
Thanks very much.

gonna be hard demoing the 15 in a store. usually dont have enough amp. the 15 REALLY responds to power ALOT!!! good quality power at that. that Adcom should get the job done though.
that said, the RTA's are a sweet speaker, 15's are definitly a little more refined. sweeter mids and the highs are more acurate, without being anywhere near bright. definitly demo themLiving Room 2 Channel -

Thanks, ohskigod.
How about the bass w/the 15's?"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger -
ample, suprisingly amply for 1 8" passive driver per side. surpasses the rta-12 by quite a bit in this regard
when you get them, have them three feet from the sidewall if possible or the bass can get a little boomy in a room.Living Room 2 Channel -

Would the 15's sound different even at lower volumes? with a better amp vs an ok amp?
I personally have an older outlaw 750 250@4ohms, and i've been debating to go to a Earthquake Cinenova, but I do not listen at reference volumes due to living in an apartment condo...Click here To see My system

If you are looking for 2-channel music I would recommend looking at amplifiers from companies whose focus is on putting out a product for music.
You certainly do not need some magic number of watts, the LSI line is an efficient speaker, you just need some clean current to keep the speaker from clipping the signal at volume.

Thanks! Does distance to the rear wall make any difference w/the 15's?"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger -

in all honesty, I never really experimented to a varying degree the didtance from the back wall. I got mine about 1.5 to 2 ft or so from the wall and it works like a charm. the sidewall issue is more prevalent since they have sidefiring woofs.Living Room 2 Channel -

Ted (reeltrouble) has a good point with the 2 channel amp issue (cinnenova is a great amp, but more of a theater amp with the seperate channels and all, therefore money spent a little inefficiently)
that said, if...in a theater setting, you heard the difference in sound at any volume between the Outlaw (no slouch, dont get me wrong here) and the cinnenova, you would be quite shocked.
my 15's went from a Rotel 980 (200 watts into 4 ohms) to outlaw monos (300 into 4 ohms) to finally a Carver TFM45 (500 into 4 ohms)
the 15's rewarded me with every power increase the likes of which no other speaker has. to a degree, that's probably the one flaw from a marketing standpoint......you need beefy amplification to get the most out of them. thats not to say its all about the Watts, but if its a lower power amp, it sure as **** aint a cheap lower powered amp..LOLLiving Room 2 Channel -
