Need new TV advice

Hey guys
my momma wants to buy a nice new LCD TV. She's looking to spend around $1000. I figured we'd want a 1080p TV because it will be used as a computer monitor a lot of the time and a nice high res TV will help the old people ( my mom ) see it from a far distance. If it's cheap enough maybe I can talk her into getting a blue ray player too.
It will also be used for watching movies and for regular cable TV (but HD TV is an option, all we have to do is add the channels).
So what's a cool TV to get?

Now is a good time to get one. The '08 models are hitting the stores so theyre all getting rid of their '07 models and there are some pretty solid prices on them.
There are a couple quality LCD's at Circuit City for $1100. Gonna be tough finding 1080 for that price tho however Im of the opinion that you dont really need it especially for a 42".
This Sharp is very good.
