thanks again for all the ideas and suggestions.

couple things.

the sanyo z2000 is really quiet in low bulb mode and plenty bright with the lights off. with the lights on I can totally watch tv in high mode, but the fan is a little bit louder but still not annoying even in low scenes, but in most scenes with the sound pumping you still cant hear it... but no need to even watch with the lights on anyway.

the last pic is the crown jewel, my sister sent me an 18'' motion activated tony montana doll that curses at you when you walk by, it's frikin hilarious.

It's crazy how small the screen makes the Rti10s look... right... show this pic to your wives and say see...they are not that big... right... we can get them now.. in fact they look so small you should be able to upgrade to the 12s or the lsis...

also, all my components are behind the seats on shelves no they are not crammed into the cabinet below the center..

    the screen was mucho cheap bro... buck twenty delivered... with lights off, it looks frikin great LOL... seriously... i began in december by buying an onkyo and thinking I was going to spend a couple hundred on some nice speakers to replace my bose cubes...

    6K later, i dont give a **** what that screen looks like as long as it reflects light and it does... (ps. Im in a rented house, might not be here in 6 months if the job moves me, definitely wont be here a year from now, so ya know... ) yeah the screen is cheap, but the image is crystal clear, every bit as clear as my lcd was (except standard def channels which i never watch anyway, but they are worse than the lcd because the image is just too big. ps. I have no DIY ability what so ever, also my walls are textured, had to go with a screen, just didnt feel like spending any more bucks, but I wanted the projector. Next big bonus maybe I will get a killer electronic screen, but I dont think this thing looks bad??? you have to see it in room, it's frikin huge.. you dont even notice the frame..

    Is this a real screen capture? The picture is so much clearer than the surroundings it doesn't even look real, almost photo shopped. I'm defiantly going to have to look in to getting a projection set up now, Congrats.

    very good eye... two pictures from the same spot... that is a real screen capture at 100 iso setting which is lowest setting availave and 1.2f stop.

    the reason the room looks different is in order to show the room I had to crank up the ISO setting (on digital camera that is equivalent to faster film) that results in a grain in the picture. I overlapped the two shots so you could see the screen and the room in 1 pic. with the iso cranked up to 800 or 1600 the screen was completely bleached out and grainy so it doesnt show how nice the image is. Here is another screen shot up close.

    only problem with trying to take pics is if you dont have a fast enough lens the image is still blurry.. i figured someone would pick up on that.. nice call

    That is similar to what I did in this image of mine, except I kept the ISO at 100 to keep the noise down and just adjusted the exposure time.

    Then I used the HDR feature in Photoshop to blend the images together.

    Mute... you **** you... I was trying to get my pics to look as good as yours because I remembered how clean they were when you posted.. but my room wasnt showing up... most of my photog equipment is back in NJ.. like my tripod, my good flash and my best lens.. so i couldnt do a real open fstop or a long exposure, so i had no choice but to take two pics with one with the iso cranked.. yeah I hate the artificial grain digital iso produces... not the same as high iso film that has some character to it.. imo. nice job though.

    so after about 6 hours of screen watching (order the UFC in HD).. i have a raging headache. I knew while i was watching the size was getting to me.. and people think size doesnt matter... so i plugged in the numbers to a calculator and it actually said THX recommended 2 feet closer.. The acceptable range was 13 feet to 26 feet, but the THX optimal angle recommends 36 degrees and I am at 31 degrees. cant believe they recommend sitting closer.

    im at 13 feet from 100 inches diagonal. when I step back about 6 feet (but i cant move seats there, that is the atrium to the room) picture looks awesome... Thinking I should shrink down the image a tad bit, but not sure if empty screen space will drive me nuts... anyone else do this.

    should I give it a few weeks to see if i adjust, seeing as how I am 2 feet further from the recommended THX sweet spot. I think it is action movement that bothers my eyes on the big screen, where as with a tv you can just focus on one spot and see whole thing, with the huge screen you have to follow the action side to side, I noticed on dialogue scenes there's no straining to re-focus..

    anyway, anyone else have similar stories.. I sell in ophthalmology, and I know there is something called accomodation not just of the lens of the eye which adjusts to focus, but the brain will actually get used to processing images differently... it happens to patients after operations that their brain adjusts after a couple months... just like people that live near train tracks, some of them adjust and dont notice the noise of the train... I lived next to one for a year, and never adjusted so I wonder if Im going to need a smaller screen...

    My friend purchased a projector a couple years ago and I would watch movies and play games over there a fair amount. For a while I would get headaches and become nauseous. Fortunately that passed after a while. The same thing happened when I got my projector but after a few days it completely passed. You should become used to it.

    I think that light balance in the room is important. If the room is complately dark except for the screen, fatigue can set in after awhile, sometimes you need ambient light to help with the brightness of the screen.

    You guys have really nice rooms that I'm sure impress the hell out of people.

    My screen hangs from the ceiling because there's a RPTV behind it (so the screen is actually hanging about 18" from the front wall)... so I put a 6500k backlight in to light up the wall. Keeps me from getting any kind of fatigue. I'm sitting 13 ft. back from a 100" screen with my Z2000, and no worries.

    Regarding all the screenshots... When I took snaps of my room for my Z3 projector, I totally cheated. I took one pic with lights on and one with lights off, then composited them together in Photoshop. :P

    kunta.. you have a link for the 6500 k backlight or a name. I might be able to do something to light up the wall . due to the placement of the recessed lights, if I turn on any of them they bleach the image, I have one in the atrium but it has no effect on the living room..

    Dave. as far as impressing people. I moved to cali for a woman last year and moved out about 4 months ago...so unfortunately I litteraly have no friends (why do you think im on this board so much) and no one to impress..just me.. but that's the most important person right? anyways. thanks for the compliment.

    I'm using a bulb from IdeaLume in a cheap $10 kitchen fluorescent fixture I got from Home Depot. I don't know that they just sell the bulbs anymore though. Check here for their website.
