Ok, So Im excited. I always wanted one, for more than just HT too... I always wanted to hook up my computer and generate visual software during parties for the music playing.

So I got the Sanyo Z2000, ordered it tonight.

I'm Pretty fired up... I will post pictures of my new set up once I get everything switch around... part of why I got it also was my speakers did not fit where the TV goes. The front of the room is a half way with entrance way etc.. so everything was crammed together and one speaker is closer than the other.. (i knew it was temporary) so all the components are going to stay where they are and the front is now going to become the back and the back the front, so the projector is going to go up on the back shelf and I am litteraly going to turn around the chairs and face the whole back wall, Now I can spread out speakers and open up the sound stage. will show you pics of before and after later.. thanks for everyone's advice and input over the last few months..

    Congrats man! You will be very satisfied with your purchase. I ended up doing the same thing as you once I set up my Sanyo, turned the room 180 degrees.

    Very nice, congrats. I've been running at Z3 in my theater for a couple of years now, fantastic projectors. You'll be very happy.

    Is the Z2000 1080p?
    If...
    Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
    Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

    Seems like either the MIT HC4900 or the Sanyo Z2000 are what people are buying for the 1080p.

    Yes, it is. I had two final choices for my new projector and the Z2000 was the other. I ended up upping $1100 more for the new Epson 1080UB since I wanted the best black levels and some more brightness. I have 116" screen, if I had less than 100" I would have gotten the Sanyo for sure. You can get the Z2000 for $1600 with all the MIR's out there, great bang for the buck and by all reviews it seems to be the projector in its price range.

    Congrats, Ive heard nice things about it here so it must be a stellar performer. One day I'll have to get my eyes on it and check it out. Now go huge on that screen and enjoy.

    Ran a Z3 in my theater for 3 years, tweaked to 6500k with a CC30R filter on a 92" Da-Lite HCMW screen. Snagged the 1080p Z2000 last month, and the difference is mind-blowing. After some careful tweaking, I got a pretty decent grayscale out of it without a filter, but I'm still tinkering with a CC30R to really max the panels out. Even without the filter, the improved contrast ratio is VERY obvious compared to the Z3.

    My only issue was that my Da-Lite screen had a subtle grid pattern that never was a problem with the 720p Z3... but caused SERIOUS moire with the Z2000. The 1920x1080 grid lined up just right to cause all kinds of ugliness. Replaced it with an Elite 100" MaxWhite manual screen for $103 and goodbye moire pattern, hello brighter whites and tighter focus!

    I'll eventually upgrade but my Z3 is still running strong and I told myself when 1080p machines hit that $1400 mark I'll do it, doesn't seem I'll have to wait to much longer.

    I DIY'd my screen with a specific light colored gray paint so no need for filters. White screens and LCDs don't go well together unless you want to do some major tweeking (and like you, filters), a gray colored screen works like a charm, as long as you get the right color.

    It's nice to see the 1080p machines dropping in price so fast.

    No no no... the color filter has nothing to do with a gray screen. The color filter compensates for the bulb's color spectrum being skewed, making it easier to max out the LCD panels and increase contrast ratio. The screen being gray or white has nothing to do with the color temperature.
