At least you could use as an upconverting player if someone interested. Free Shipping + 5 HD movies.

It was in stock this morning, it didn't last long. I thought people wouldn't grab that fast since blu-ray won.

its still probably a decent upconverting DVD player for that price, throw in the free movies, heck I would have ordered one too.

Oh well... time to keep wishing for Blu-Ray players to get cheaper now.

'Decent' is probably a bit of an understatement. It's the best upconverting player that you'll find for anywhere near $100...easily.

If you have a local Fry's check there, they are selling these for around the same price I believe...

Toshiba HD-D3 (Costco model #) for $79.99 at Costco

Supposedly the same price in store, box includes 2 HD-DVDs and an HDMI cable. I'm tempted, but part of me says I should just put that $80 towards a PS3. I'm torn.

Put the $80 and the $6 gas money it would take to drive to Costco toward an PS3 or other Blu-ray player ... eventually you'll upgrade to Bluray so that will be 80$ saved. Besides if you've waited this long whats another little while?;)

For anyone looking for an HD DVD player, Costco has the HD-D3 for $79, picked one up on the way home tonight.

Forget about the HD DVD capability (remember none of those discs still work anyway since the Toshiba announcement this week) - It's by far the best upconverting DVD player under $100

    Word to the wiseguys:

Go do a search on eBay in the electronics category for "HD-DVD", sorted by "newest first" and listing "Buy It Now" items only.

    Bookmark that search.

    Check it hourly.

There are some CRAZY deals to be had from folks jumping off the HD-DVD bandwagon... but they don't last long.

I may have to swing by Costco tomorrow, that's a hell of a good deal.

I've read that many online retailers are "re-naming" the Toshiba HD-DVD players to more prominently feature "upconverting" as opposed to just HD-DVD.

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
