2001 B&K 7250 ll 5 channel x 200 or 2008 Emotiva XPA-5 5 channel x 200
I'm looking at both of these amps. One is on auction and is 7 years old and the Emotiva would be brand new. The B&K brand new retailed for $2500 in 2001. The price at auction is up to almost $800 which would be the same price as the Emotiva brand new. I just wanted your opinion on which one of these you would go after, time is short seeing how the auction ends tonight, please give me your thoughts.

I have no experience with this new Emotiva company but I do have experience with B&k. There products are rock solid and sound fantastic. The 7250 is a beast and very very dynamic. For that kind of money you can't go wrong with it. It's worth it's retail price.
the prices of Emotiva tell me there gotta be a reason why they are so cheap. I know they are factory direct but at 800.00 that alot less then cost on the B&K. Not to mention B&K amps stand the test of time.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
B&K has a better rep, but I would consider the EMO due to the new product warrantee."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Never heard the Emotiva amp but have nothing but praise for my B&K 7250 II. Sounds great very powerful and not a single problem with it, I bought it used as well. As Mantis said the B&K has a great rep and after 7 years is worth what the Emotiva is new today.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH

Check audiogon for this amp, they show up there frequently. I ended up giving 1100.00 on ebay for mine. I think it was worth every penny but only you can decide if it's worth it to you.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH
