But they are broken:(
After my GFA-585 expeirience I am confident I can fix these too:)
They are a pair of GFA-565's, and a GFA-545:cool:

I can not wait to get these things, and start going to town on them:eek:

    It doesn't take that much work to get an Adcom working again....it's a great design.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Yes it is a great design when they are up and running, but 585's, and 565's sure do take some serious work. They are a totally different animal than the rest of the older amps. I am hoping it is something simple. I'm going to need a variac, and a silly scope if I keep this up:D The 545 should be a breeze compared to the mono blocks, and they should be easier than the 585 was. I hope!

    I've never heard of the 665 amp.. what are the specs on it? looks as big as the 5500 amp or BIGGER!

    Well the 545 is fine. I have gone through it, and all is good. It just needed some RCA jacks. The ground sleeves were pulled off. I am going to replace these with some HQ units, and put it on the market. I presently have too many amps (did I just say that?). GFA-585, 545, 555, 5800, and 2 565's. Thats almost 4000 watts rms at 4 ohms:D The 565's have way to much DC offset. One is 40+ VDC, and the other is 10vdc:eek:, and the 555 is putting out full vdc to one channel:eek::eek::eek:

    If you are measuring at the ****-end, the output trannies are most likely fried somewhere between open/closed. I think you have a few laying around, . . talk about karma.

    I have been playing with them today, and last night. I have been focusing on the 565's of coarse, and the DC offset dropped down to specs after half an hour from 40vdc:confused: The other one dropped from 10vdc to 7vdc which is still crazy out of whack.
    The 555 I agree has to have an output tranny stuck to put near full voltage. I have not done the calculations, but there are 4 resistors that help keep things stable after the output stage, and I am willing to bet the slight V drop is due to that resistor.
    Back to the 565's I took the input boards out, and removed the electrolytic, and the variable resistor. What a stink! When desoldering the caps you can smell that pungent electrolyte in the air. I washed them in my ultrasonic cleaner with some simple green a couple times, and did a couple rinses. Boy am I glad I have that piece of equipment! The board looks like brand new! Well I am back to repopulating the board with new caps.

    Yes I had some blown diodes on the input board of my 585 that gave me problems! I replaced them, a couple TO-92 trannies, and the servo Op Amp. I don't know if the latter parts were actually bad, but replacing some cheap trannies, and 2 Op Amps was much better than finding out they are bad, and having to pull everything out again to replace less than $20 worth of parts that are new, and better;)

    What I did.
    This one took a while. The bridge rectifier was questionable on one channel so I replaced both. I removed all caps(4), and the variable resistors from the input board. The board then got a bath of simple green in the ultra sonic cleaner. This amp uses transistors to control DC offset. I removed all the TO-92 trannies except for the signal output trannies. Those are a matched Darlington pair. I didn't have them in stock anyways. The last guy to work on this amp cut the power cord, and threw out the fuse holder. 80vdc would not be very nice to your speakers. This is the third amp that I have gotten that a repair shop gave up on:) I am so happy I could pee:) I am listening to this amp right now. I need to put a power cord on it. I just stripped the little bit of wire he left hanging out, and stuffed the bare wire in a power stripe:eek: Not the best way to power an amp but I figured that this one might be a tough nut to crack:D
    I wish I had at least a little school in electronics. It just takes a while to figure them out. A little smoke here, and there:D Some burnt fingers:p

    I did.
    I bought a pair of 565's, a 545, and a 555. All dead
    The 545 just needed new input jacks:D
    The 565's needed lost of cleaning(ultra sonic on the input board),new LC trannies, and recaping.
    The 555 was pretty tough to track down the issues. I still need to replace the input grounds. That was not my work there. They work fine, butt ugly:D Also I am headed to Lowes to get a real power cable for this one;)
