Screw-On Carry Handles OK?

While I'm experimenting with placement of my new Monitor 60's, do you folks see a problem with **** a simple pull-handle on to the back with stout screws that penetrate only half an inch? I'd be inclined to leave them on unless it would affect the sound.

    Not a problem if you don't mind having them there. I know some people that have drilled the bottom and put a threaded insert to attach to the stands....Can you believe that???

    The only issue I see is that MDF tends to flake and fall apart when drilled or screwed at a partial depth. But I haven't tried it on a pair of speaker before so the results might be a little different.

    Bad idea for the reason mentioned above.

    If you have to install handles, try to use nut and machine bolt. There's nothing worse than a speaker falling from your grip as you try to navigate a flight of stairs.

    Maybe I'll try another method.... a strap top to bottom on the sides with a "GrabLoop" at the top it might be the ticket.

    If you want to go with the handles, the only way to do it structurally would be to drill all the way through the wood, then use a bolt and nut with large washer on each side to spread the load. Notice, that would be the structural choice, not necessarily the acoustic choice. (Althought I don't see why not)
