A Sony KDS 55 OR 60 A3000 and a ps3. Are there any deals out there. Or a better time to buy to get a better price?
Any other suggestions or recommendations?
Thanks,
Steve

Well if you can wait a few weeks for the PS3, there are lots of RUMORS going around that there is a price drop coming. No official word yet but if you want to wait just a bit you may be able to save a few bucks (or not).Polk Audio RTi8 Fronts

I will start out by saying that I don't own a blu player at all, but that being said, I would go PS3. If you play any video games at all, or if not you can use it for storing some of your digital music too, if that's your thing..:)
To be honest, I would wait it out if you are set on a stand alone player, I think the prices will be dropped soon enough. We all know the PS3 isn't getting any cheaper anytime soon....
Also, I would shell out the extra $$ for a 80GB PS3, mostly because I still have PS2 games that I enjoy playing, but the extra storage space is worth it alone if you have a lot of digital music... -
Both the 55" and 60" are getting very hard to find. I think BestBuy, Sears, and Circuit City have them still (but this may vary with location. All the major online retailers are sold out. I'd say if you really want one, get one now and don't worry about the price. Either way, you will be getting more TV for your money than just about other deal. As of today, BB has the better deal on the 60" and CC has the better deal on the 55".
BTW, I absolutely love my 55A3000.See profile for rigs. Nothing else here. -

I agree, well about the stand alone part. There are a lot of new players coming out this year too. Many of them have more features then the current models and they'll be cheap.
As for "knowing" the PS3 isn't going down in price. You, me, nobody "knows" anything. The rumor is it's going down, doesn't make it true but if you could save $50 or $100 bucks by just waiting a couple weeks then why wouldn't you?
This rumor isn't unfounded, there are a few good reasons to drop the price now:
- Ride the Blu-Ray popularity wave following Warner's exclusivity announcement (also rumored that the Warner contract had a clause about PS3 pricing in the exclusivity agreement...but again it's a rumor)
- Microsoft is planning a price drop for later this year Sony may want to steal their thunder
- Production costs of the PS3 have dropped significantly in recent months(enough for Sony to post a Q3 profit for gaming division).Polk Audio RTi8 Fronts

I will chiming in on what Bill said, go CC and BB online for the 55" and 60". Sonystyle.com has run out of their inventory.
happy as a clam of my 55A3000 too.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
Slocookn, make sure you check for any available coupons at CC and BB. The forums at Fatwallet.com and/or Slickdeals.net usually have coupons that range from 5-10% off. YMMV.
Good luck. Hope you score one.See profile for rigs. Nothing else here. -

I didn't see any of the rumors until today about the PS3 going down in price, but I would def. wait a couple of weeks to save a bill on it....I just can't see it go much farther down without them knocking more features off of it, a la the 40GB, which I think could be the reason for the lower production costs.... -
I wish they would come out with a PS3 that can bitstream the new audio formats.Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR805

I was so surprised to hear the production costs of the 40GB PS3 had been reduced to just under $400 meaning they're actually making a profit on them. That's over 50% price reduction in just 1 year of existence. Pretty amazing really.
I don't really mind as long as they eventually get support for DTS HD-MA decoding. But yes that would be very nice. I'd be seriously tempted to buy a new PS3 if a new model were to support it.I wish they would come out with a PS3 that can bitstream the new audio formats.Polk Audio RTi8 Fronts

I decided to go with the 60" tv and the ps3. I called Best Buy and they said that they had three in stock. I had one hour until I could be there so I waited. My wife and I arrived an hour later and they said they were out of stock since yesterday. They also did not have any ps3's in stock either. Over all a horrible experience with Best Buy! From the bottom it looks like a steep incline, From the top another down hill slope of mine. But I know the equilibrium's there! .."Faith No More"
