Not sure if they are replacing the current line but Rotel recently came out with new amps that I for one amp quite excited for.

http://news.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/10381/386259.html

100x5 Icepower amp retails for $1199, less then 3in high only 12lbs runs cold. So far reports sound good, placing it a notch above the 1075.

I know that icepower isn't that popular on this forum but it looks like a great value. Most 5x100 icepower amps are around the 2k+ range from no name brands. I can't wait for the 250wpc version coming down the pike.

Thanks for the post! I too sense that the class D amps are not popular. My Rotel dealer in Sudbury even discouraged me from the 1092 and pushed me towards the 1080 when considering a 2 channel amp which I would use mainly for movies (90%) and music (10%). When I inquired of multi-channel amps such as the Sunfire Amps that were smaller (35 lbs) to fit my limited cabinet, his helpful advice was "Get a new cabinet, because you want BIG".

Anyhow I will be looking with great interest in the higher wattage multichannel Rotel Class D amps, as I will eventually wish to upgrade my surrounds to LSi FXs and LSi 7s or 9s.

Good price for the new amp. The 1077 got great reviews but at $2500 is was just too overpriced. I heard Nuforce has a 100 x 7 coming out soon and matching preamp but I have not heard a price for it.

Good gawdamighty! I cant believe the prices on amps!! Now that Im a home owner I can indulge my HT and 2 channel passions so Ive been browsing different sites lately trying to get an idea of prices of 2 channel and 5 channel amps and I was dumbstruck!! $2500+ for a 5 channel amp mentioned above and I cant find any 2 channels for less than $500! That is just insane.

I dont know if Ill ever be able to afford an amp for my HT and even if I could I dont think I could ever spend that much in good conscience. What a rip off!

Im hoping that I just havent looked in the right places yet.

Are these new models Icepower? The link mentions...

"Both new models feature Rotel's proprietary Class D design"

The Rotel site notes Icepower on the 1077/1092/1091 exsisting class D but not the new ones.

Price and form factor are nice.

ICEpower offers some good quality stuff. Im running the 1000ASP modules from D-sonic on my RTi12s and couldnt be happier. Not sure why the Rotel stuff is overpriced when allot of the same companies use the same module from B&O. If youre wanting to get into Icepower at a cheaper price, check out D-Sonic (www.d-sonic.net) or Red dragons.

Zsolt, strange experience I heard the 1092 was quite good but overpriced for what it was.

V, I heard bout that to, not to excited. I was reading somewhere it was going to be around 2k, a little rich for my blood and I prefer icepower to nuforce's tech.

Mac, You can get alot for around $500. Hell you could get some Red Dragon Amp-1s (if you can find a pair) for $500, they are awesome little 105wpc monoblocks. Then get a decent older amp like a parasound or rotel or B&k for around $500 and you got some great power for $1k.

Joe, All the other forums that are talking about this are calling it Icepower. I know B&O recently started doing custom 4-8ch modules for companies, I think this is one of those and thats how they got the cost so low.

Sherardp, I have heard good things about the D-sonics, I'm running my EVS500Ms which use modified 1000ASP modules. I was looking at a D-sonic multichannel amp but they are all over 2k. I was planning on getting 4 Red Dragon Amp-1s (105wpc $250 mono blocks) but there are only around 50 ever made and they are hard to come by.

Pioneer Elite is releasing a monster new flagship receiver with Ice amps made by B&O. I'm looking forward to this one. Rotel is not on my high list right now besides these amps have been out for awhile. Rotels new preamp took me out.

I'm having trepidations with the upcoming Pioneer Elite since it uses 200watt B&O D class modules. These module may still be the old version that Rotel uses for the 1077.

Rotel did not like their performance at 200 watts so it was down rated to 100 watts.
