The Amr70 are computer speakers, and I was just wondering whether I could use a receiver and take a 3mm output from it (headphone jack) and use it as a regular amp for these speakers...

I think you might have to read this to understand: http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/specs/amr70/

Well, I figured out how to connect these speakers directly to an amp/receiver ...

But now the question is: Are my speakers capable of being powered by a receiver?

They are 44 Watts max and 103 dB...

Would it be alright to do this??

No, they are self-powered. They can only be powered by their own unit without some serious tinkering. (That wouldn't be worth it)
