apparently the mono Amp should be here by next week, it takes too long for the holidays and those things, and the enclosure is already done, so i would have my sub playing in a few days.

anyway you told me before to take out the rear speakers, for a better SQ
but i want to know why does the rear speakers affect my SQ.

and if i take them off, am i going to have more bass on the cabin?
since the subwoofer its in the trunk, and without the rear speakers, i would have a conecction between the trunk and the rear speakers?

or its a bad idea?

thanks Mac

the reason for only front speakers is sound stage.

Most SQ people don't like rear speakers because it changes the staging of the whole system. If you don't know what staging is, it's basically recreating instrument placement, speaker placement and ambience of the original performance or recording. Rear speakers detract from that except in the case of some SQ competitors. Now, keep in mind that if you aren't interested in creating a great soundstage, then rear speakers can sound good. You just have to follow the same guidelines as for front speakers...good quality, clean power and careful tuning. Quite a few people do see a gain in bass if they have subwoofers in the trunk since removing the rear speakers allows for more sound to pass from a well sealed trunk into the passenger compartment.

EDIT: I just noticed where you mentioned a concern about an connection between the rear speakers and subwoofer in the trunk. I have heard of subwoofers creating enough pressure to interfere with the rear speakers if the rear speakers and in the rear deck and the subwoofers are in the trunk.

    woow

thanks guys, i will try them in a few days.

and if i take out the rear speakers i can bridge my amp to a 100 RMS per channel, and put the gain in a quart, so 100 RMS per channel and no distortion.

    thanks for the advices

    2 things, imaging and cancellation.

Having rear speakers will pull the soundstage to the rear when it should be right in front of you and nice and high. Also, having the rear speakers playing the same frequencies as your front speakers but hitting your ears at different times can and usually does cause cancellation not only in your ears but it also can cause cancellation in the low end response when they cancel each other out.

That wouldnt really make much of a difference.

Bad idea for the same reason as rear speakers. You dont want too many speakers playing the same frequencies.

    thanks a lot mac.

i already bridge my Amp in to 2 channels, and take out the rear speakers, im just waiting to install the mono amp.

and the crossover is already on 100hz for the front speakers, and i will put the sub from 30 to 100hz

    30-100? Thats kinda weird.

30 is way too high to be cutting off for the sub. There is a lot of information and "feel" in the 30 and below range. And 100 is way too high. Thatll be way too boomy and pull to the rear a ton.

Id let the sub roll off on the bottom end naturally and I wouldnt take the low pass any higher than 80.

Actually I wouldnt cut off the subs low end at all. Let it roll off naturally. And dont be afraid to tune around with the thing. 80 may be too high for you. Itll depend on what music you like and what sounds good to you. For instance, mine is set at 63.
